There's mazelike dungeons, random enemy encounters, a unique card based combat system, and an interesting modern setting. If you can get past the graphics and some engrish it helps fill a void for modern JRPGs on App Store. IAP seems optional so far. Better than it looks. I played up until the battle with the rat-faced lady. The game held my attention for about an hour; but then became quite tedious. I feel sorry for the dev - he has apparently sunk a lot of money into this. (There is an unobtrusive in-game plea for you to download free sponsor apps, explaining that he is $80k in the hole.) Some constructive feedback: 1) The grammar problems are not the biggest issue with the game. They actually make it more entertaining. 2) The speed of battles should be adjustable. The pace is good while learning how the game works, but it becomes too slow. 3) Navigating in the dungeons is more confusing than fun. I didn't enjoy the maze aspect, and in the "tent" dungeon, the teleporters all look the same. The mini-map is hard to find and too small to be of much use. It seemed like there was a lot left (plot, levels) which I will not get to see because of the tedious pace and lack of mini-game/battle variety. smegly Well-Known Member Mar 27, 2012 990 0 0 NY, NY #7 smegly, Jul 28, 2013 I played through the tutorial and a bit beyond that. I didn't go much farther because I don't need another RPG on my plate right now, but what I played was a lot of fun and I'll get back to it later. There was always optional IAP for gold. Now there is also a $1.99 to unlock the full game. I got it on launch (with a promo code) and at a glance it appears my Boy RPG is still as it always was (fully unlocked?). It's comedically implemented but there is also a building with a "help" sign that leads to optional advertisements; that's the classiest approach to in game ads yet and not invasive. For a developer with a quality title like this struggling for some financial gain and attention I don't fault them attempting different stategies and in this case adding a free to download one time fee to unlock model seems reasonable. There's probably very few people who legitimately bought Boy RPG that could complain; we certainly didn't purchase it. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #19 nightc1, Sep 25, 2013 I played the game tonight from a fresh install yesterday and I don't see where in the game for the IAP unlock. All I see are coins. I should still have at least one version of this game backed up on my PC even if this version is messed up somehow. This is a cool little game and is well worth playing. I hope I never start caring only about what happens to me specifically, because that's not the kind of person I want to be. Thanks for the info. DBC (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
