    Doing nothing of importance.
    Somewhere
Finally... a 2D fighter... Post some screens of some of the sprites you have.

I know SFIV is coming, but that's not really 2d... more like 2.5d... I like the 2D sprites alot.

    Dojo

    dojo:

    -character creation

    there will be classes:

    -ninja class (inspired by naruto)
    -samurai class (inspired by bleach)
    -demon class (inspired by inuyasha)
    -half demon class (inuyasha)
-brawler (DBZ or Chad from bleach)
    -sage class (summoners class)
    -mana class
    -more?

each class will come with its own unique attributes or options to select from for instance:

    ninja class
    -choose affinity to nature type
    -unlock new kinds of jutsu

    samurai class
    -is all about the weapons
-as you level up you unlock new legendary weapons
    -each weapon has 2 forms

    demon class
associate with some kind of animal or insect ect
transform into said animal or insect, ect for X amount of secs during battle
unlock demon blades with their own unique skills

    half demon class
    -unlock demon blades
-automatically transforms into demon mode during hp critical
-randomly transform into a human which caps some skills and attributes for X amount of secs every other battle

    brawler
    -choose fighting style
    -unlock skills
    -all hand to hand combat

    sage
    -sages are summoners
-when you create a sage you have several different types to choose from
-like a toad sage, or forest sage, fish sage ect
-each sage type has their own unique abilities or skills to unlock
-when you fight you can summon the toad or the forest or the ocean or whatever to help you in combat

    mana
    -this is a customizable class
-you basically equip materia sets or mana orb sets to weapons like FF7
-theres many different types of weapons to unlock and equip
-and as you level up you unlock new kinds of materia that you can equip to your character

in addition to classes you can also edit the following:
    -choose clan; more details below
    -gender..duh
    -style sets
    -color sets
    -edit visage; more details below

clan = think of the clan as a group or social hub. there should be 4 clans at launch each with their own unique style and look which will have an effect on how your character looks (basically limits certain options) and how your visage looks. each clan will also come with their own unique special bonus like the blah clan will give a bonus in defense for the first few secs of a match and stuff like that

visage = is sort of like a profile/avatar/splash screen element that looks like a manga cover of some anime series. as you level up and earn achievements your visage will evolve the text, your character the elements of the image all will change depending on your progress and achievements. when someone checks you out they will see your visage as if it was your profile; from there they can friend req, challenge, report or message you ect. the visage is also a splash screen element. the splash screen here needs to be just as cool as L4D2 but instead of make believe movie posters on a wall in the zombie apocalypse the splash screen will be made out of the visages and will be like dynamic manga covers where your character and the enemy your about to fight is going at it, with boxes showing you how to earn random achievements or some random tips. and last but not least when you level up you earn new kinds of visages and different images and you can switch between them seamlessly and they will continue to evolve as you level up

    character development

-no currency as you earn xp you earn knowledge points or something
-these knowledge points will be used to unlock new weapons, skills, ect on a skill tree similar to FF12
-you dont have to buy equipment or magic or whatever from a shop once you unlock something on your skill tree its yours you own it and thus it gets added to your inventory or skill set or whatever

    ending comments:

no one has (well to my knowledge) created a 2D fighter on top of a robust almost RPG like character creation and development system. this will definitely add a huge layer of depth and complexity more so then a cast of pre-built and pre-determined characters, this is also why i took lots of influence from well known anime series and added lots of variables to each class so the fighting would be very dynamic and different from one fight to the next.

This sounds a bit like an MMO... Do you have any images of the game you could post here? I'm definetly interested from the sounds of things.

    practice mode:

    is pretty self explanatory but...

-train and hone your skills against AI
-change the behavior of the AI
    -on screen combo guides
-endless mode or survival mode where enemies will keep respawning and getting harder and harder each time and you have to defeat them one after another with no health regeneration in between

    Fight mode:

fight mode is all about quick fights......

-matchmaking or if no match closest match by level or skill or just any level skill if no match is online
-both local (bluetooth & wifi) and online (web) fights
-you can also fight single player against your own created characters
    -all 2D arcade fighter gameplay
-as you fight you earn XP weather you win or lose; you get an XP bonus if you win
-you also earn knowledge points or skill points or license points whatever you want to call them in addition to xp

    hunts:

hunts is all about CO-OP gameplay on a 2D fighter engine.....

basically 2 or more players team up to take down a boss aka huge monster as you level up you unlock new bosses or if you want to be all greedy about it you can push bosses via in app purchases 99 cents for a boss or whatever....

    pro

pro is essentially a round robin tournament mode where say 6-8 players join the lobby and go at it until there is a winner.

at higher levels you unlock pro + a private tournament mode which can be sponsored and have cash prizes for winning; requires X amount of $$ to create/join the tournament; when you create a tournament it gives you X amount of join codes and you can distribute these codes to users via web, email or within the social layer of the game (open feint plus + ect)

cap the amount of $$ you can spend on the tournaments a day and the amount of prizes you can win and maybe hopefully you can get away with this without having to go thru acquiring gambling licenses for every state and internationally if not then just scrap the idea of pro +

    clan

think of the clan mode as the social hub for the game within the game itself as a mode in the main menu not thru a 3rd party layer such as open fient or whatnot....

this mode will allow you to do the following:

-see ldr boards of the clan
    -clan forums
    -clan chat/messages?
-there will be clan ranks? what could ranks be used for?
-organize and coordinate clan tournaments preferably played out thru pro + and preferably organized by interns who have experience with social media marketing

    @yourpersonalrobot

haha thx i was going for a name that was similar to street fighter since there is a lot of hype and excitement surrounding its release

    @somerandomdude

nah its not a MMO its just a concept for a sprite 2D fighter built on top of a very robust character creation and development system which i dont think has ever been tried before; i dont have any images or anything yet i literally just came up with the concept tonight

    @TheFamousEccles

just started would love to hear your feedback

So a clan is like a PMC (Private Military Company) in MAG.
EDIT: instead of physical money, make some in game credits system that you can spend on special things like clothes or moves.

    @Bluellama1

yea just like the PMC in MAG but it goes a bit further....

-clans have special bonuses unique to each each clan sort of like temp buffs that last X amount of secs at the beginning of each fight or possibly more deep then that where clans have their own unique set of weapons and equipment
-and the clan mode itself is like a social hub for players
-the concept of the clans would be like in Naruto just prominent families or gangs or whatever
    -no user generated clans
-but im thinking the clan ranks can allow players to create their own division within the clan? idk maybe still thinking about that one

as far as game credits i was thinking the same thing no currency just points you earn organically as you fight. you can essentially create a freemium model around this idea of KP (knowledge points) so you can just buy them with real money if are the impatient type but i prefer to force gamers to earn them by playing the game not acquire them by spending $$$

    additional details and ideas:

-when i say sprites i mean sprites but the graphics have to be at least psx quality and look absolutely gorgeous and stunning in its presentation and art style.

-might be a good idea to get VIZ on board with licenses or involvement as extra leverage but not a necessity

-the engine needs to be legit; fast paced with tight responsive controls (more details later on the controls)

    wildcard maps;

-these are maps with interactive objects or animations that effect gameplay.

    -there can be traps

-or its in the middle of a war or some environmental disaster and the level is being destroyed as you play like with holes that appear after a huge boulder or bomb hits it and you have to jump over this hole or you will fall and die,

-and eventually the space your fighting on will be destroyed and kill both your character and the enemy if there is not a winner in time

-or the level will be destroyed but you and the enemy flee to another battle ground

-kinda like how in bayonetta that first falling clocktower level where its a scripted event that gives you only a brief time to fight in between; all in 2D of course

-there could even be mini games and if you get it right you restore some health or stuff like that

Yeah, but make it so you will always earn these credits without paying, that's where eliminate failed. There is, currently, three PMCs S.V.E.R. (Seryi Volk Executive Response) (my team :D), Valor, and Raven. each one is mostly cosmetic but there is also slight differences with each PMCs weapons (one has decreased RoF, but higher damage, increased RoF, lower damage) but it's all balanced. Game sounds really ambitious.

    controls

    virtual wheel bottom left:
    -forwards and backwards movement duh
    -jumping
    -blocking (away & down-away)

*it should be a "smart" wheel meaning it can still capture input even if players thumb has slide off the wheel

*it also needs to be super responsive; so players dont feel they need to wander their thumbs off the wheel and across the screen to move

    virtual pad bottom right:

-taps on virtual pad do quick attacks

-double taps also do quick attacks but different attack all together

-tap and hold to charge a dash attack (can do one in midair)

-flick right (from left edge of the wheel to the right) across the x axis of the wheel for a strong attack

-flick left (from the right edge of the wheel to the left) across the x axis of the wheel for another strong attack

-flick down from top of the wheel to the bottom across the y axis to do a sweep

-flick up from bottom of the wheel to the top to do anti air or upper cut

combos are just variations of taps and flicks

    -tap + flick + tap
    -tap tap tap flick
    ect

    switch button:

-the switch button is a button right above the left virtual wheel with a little bit of space between the wheel and the button. holding your thumb over this switch button while completely change the pad into a wheel with up to 4 equip-able skills/moves

-simply rotate the bottom right hot key wheel to highlight the move/skill you want to do with your left thumb still held on the switch or you just tap and hold on a skill/move to begin charging it as well. after a brief sec the move should be ready; release both thumbs off the screen at the same time and the move will be unleashed upon your enemy

    pop up button:

-the pop up button will appear right above the bottom right virtual pad
-this will allow you to activate your class specific buffs or form changes
-just tap the button to activate it
-for ninja it will create shadow clones of activate substitution jutsu ect
-for samurai it will release your legendary weapon to its 2nd form, and now you have new attacks and combos for X amount of secs; in 2nd form you must do X amount of damage or land a advanced combo before the 3rd form (the bankia form) pop up button will appear
-for demon it will transform you into a demon monster for X amount of secs, obviously all of your attacks are going to be really slow but very powerful and your going to be a huge monster cool huh?
-for half demon it will allow you to go into demon mode which will give you incredible speed and power for X amount of secs; keep in mind that the demon mode will automatically activate when HP critical

*the button only appears if something is ready to activate

EDIT: I want to use the above pop up button exclusively for buffs and form changes so that the 4 equip able magic/skills can be used entirely for defense or offense not vitality or status changes

power-ups there will of course be power ups you dont have to push a button to initiate them just run into them and voila

    Survival mode:

adding this to the main menu and taking survival out of the practice mode

-its multiplayer you can play with a friend locally or with someone online
-theres even enemies that may incapacitate you
-and when you run out of health you can be revived by a partner before you bleed out and die

there will most likely be mini bosses and bosses

should be a lot of fun :)
