Rocket Patrol is a turn based card / puzzle strategy hybrid game. You play cards to advance in a galactic space race. The first to travel 350 lightyears wins. Along the way you can play red delay cards on your opponent to slow them down, or purple power cards which place puzzle obstructions in front of your opponent before they can continue play. Rocket Patrol will be out for the iPad from GRL Games 4-4-13! Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel
Now THIS piques my interest! 2 quick questions: will it support GC multiplayer, and is it based on a physical game?
Rocket Patrol uses GC turn based multiplayer to play. We played a lot of an old game called "Touring" but it would have been too slow to play turn by turn over the Internet so we took inspiration from the idea of a race game with delay / play cards, added puzzles I remembered from my childhood like my Merlin toy and Mastermind and made those cards you could play too. In the end, the game can only be virtual, but the inspiration is definitely there from Touring.
Rocket Patrol Ships 4/4 We're starting the countdown to shipping Rocket Patrol! It will be live on the App Store April 4th 2013!
New Ship Date! We spent a lot of time at GDC taking feedback on Rocket Patrol and once home worked hard on improving the game. I've updated the screenshots up top to show how the game now looks and it has a new launch date of 4-18-13! Graeme.
Dude, Mille Borne (1000 miles or kilometers is what it tranlates to) is one of my favorite games EVER. I doubt many other Americans have played it...bought everyone I taught how to play fell in love with it. Is that the same game as "Touring"?
I think Touring was around before Mille Borne, I've never actually played Mille Borne. From what people tell me though is that Rocket Patrol plays a lot faster, it's a different game but still a travel game.
Nice I almost forgot about this, I knew there was something launching tonight that I've been waiting for.
@ zaphodgjd Graphics look slick! BUT, not the three buttons at the very bottom (Swap, Undo, Play). They are too big so the bottoms are sheared off. Looks out of place with the rest of the UI looking so polished. Will you consider fixing those so they fit on the screen? (iPad 2)
