This game is #1 all over the world. With 2* rating. It's pretty bad. The biggest jump happened on 24 Nov. Any idea which promotion tools did they use or how could this app climbed so high?
very good question, its always interesting to see how people get a boost especially indie developers, anyone out there have any idea?
Looks like game has been banned. Can't find it anymore on App Store, as well as App Annie has no records about it for the last day? Here is topic on Quora about it: What kind of media is making "Dental Surgery" game to get itself TOP 1 Overall U.S. for 5 consecutive days? What do you think?
seems like its more of a speculative answer, either way the person has cracked the code to getting #1. kinda crazy that crappy apps are still able to get to the top.
Here we go again, now it is "Nose Surgery" - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/nose-surgery/id582570696?mt=8 Once again similar theme, probably the same developer and very low rankings. Any idea how did they get such a position boost?
I wonder if Apple can cut back on these by simply enforcing the requirement that the support link goes to an actual support page. In both cases the link went to some random website that has nothing to do with the app, or any app.
I'm guessing the dental surgery app got banned due to buying there way into the top 25. Apple cracked down on this.
Im purely speculating, but is it possible that this was just a pure arbitrage situation where the ad revenue due to the content subject matter was higher than the cost to buy installs therefore they could just buy enough to get to the top?
