I'm wondering how many users will use external controllers. All friends of mine playing games while they are on their way to work or so and I doubt that they would carry external controllers with them.
What's zour experience with that issue?

It's more about having a option for more traditional gaming experiences. Your friends do what they becuase there are no alternatives. They also may continue to game how they currently do after the MFi controllers comes out. For others that wish to go to another level with FPS, platformers, fighters etc. we will finally have an option to do so

Every model of reality has margins where it begins to run out of explanatory steam, where we can see its problems and limitations

Totally agree, it opens up so many more possibilities for games. I also wonder if they will allow a way to airplay the game to your apple tv for example, while controlling it with the game controller.

It feels like they are really headed towards an app store and games on the apple tv with this. Exciting times! Really looking forward to what else they announce later this year.

That'll work automatically if you turn on mirroring, but games can also optimize this by targeting the second display directly (most Gameloft games do this already). Problem with AirPlay is lag/stuttering of the live video feed itself - hopefully that'll improve with new iOS and hardware updates.

Right, I always forget about mirroring. I guess I'm more excited about the future possibilities of Apple TV and games and taking out the whole need for mirroring/airplay in the first place.
