Alpha Swarm is an upcoming iPhone game (July release) that takes a unique approach to the platform shooter genre. I could explain it, but the teaser trailer does a much better job: Now that the beta is over, I'm making adjustments based on the tester's feedback. I'll keep you guys updated with new screenshots, as the game has changed quite a bit since the trailer footage was captured. Some updated screenshot love: Please leave some feedback!
It's kinda hard to tell what kind of game this is from the video, something like Cortex Command or Worms possibly? Either way it looks promising, I'll be keeping an eye on this
I can't reveal too much, but I'll clear The trailer. Choosing weapons before playing means you can zoom out to see The level and try to suit your moves to it. The end is game play secret.
It looks intriguing, but the screen in the video is so tiny that it's hard to make out what's going on.
I'll try to post some nice eye candy by the end of the day. The game was extremely difficult, but I revisited the technique for jumping and I feel the game is much improved. You'll just have to see it when I post the new screenshots! If you watch it on the pop-up viewer its much larger and easier to see. And to give more details on the gameplay: Before each mission, you have to choose what abilities you will need in an efficient order to complete the mission. These range from a simple jumping ability, to automatic rifles, lasers, and more extravagant weapons as the game progresses. The levels consist of various types of enemies trying to kill you, fans, spike pits, etc. So, essentially the game is a mix between the small level platformers that have been popular recently, worms (or any other artillery game), and it can even seem like a puzzle game at times when you have to select the proper order of abilities. And then of course there's levels where you can just fly around in a jetpack, chunking grenades around the level and spraying your machine gun. I must say that those are my favorite.
I looked up Cortex Command gameplay videos, and I can't really tell what's happening in game. It looked fairly different, though.
Wow, thanks! Sorry about the delayed screenshots, I started celebrating July 4th a couple of days early Will update this thread soon!
The original post has been updated with 9 screenshots of finished gameplay. Let me know what y'all think!
All I can say is "Wow!". Have been giving myself a daily reminder to check for this on the app store. Have you submitted already?
Afraid not. Spent a couple of days adding in additional features. I think the beta testers will be pleasantly surprised to see the extent of the changes made to the game.
