http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewRoom?fcId=388188979&id=25204&mt=8 o.o only 10 games, do you own them all? so far, there's Archetype, Chaos Rings, Espgaluda II, GTA:CTW, Guitar Hero, The Impossible Game, Madden NFL 11, Real Racing, Space Invaders Infinity Gene, and Squareball
How the heck is The Impossible Game hardcore? Yeah, sure it is challenging but I would normally associate a hardcore game with length, story and needing a lot of time and skill to complete. The Impossible test is more of a casual game, no? Then again, I haven't played the game so I wouldn't know.
Little update called Focus Mode happened a little while ago. Of all the hardcore games, why Squareball?
Street Fighter IV should've been included. It's pretty deep and complex if one wants to master it. It has almost all of the advanced strategy and techniques from the original game like FADC. Of course it's not as deep as its console counterparts, but Archetype is no HALO and Real Racing is no Gran Turismo either.
After clicking the itunes link and checking those titles out, my first inclination was to return to this thread and express the same viewpoint. It's also worth mentioning that Chaos Rings has been slammed for being a breeze; one type of attack can be used over and over, etc. Apple has listed Jet Car Stunts under "what we're playing" in the past. Was their memory of its difficulty such that they repressed it altogether?
Apple gives Squareball an awful lot of publicity... I've seen it featured so many other times in the past... It's not even that amazing of a game, I personally don't really care for it.
That's because Matt Cassamassina is in love with the game. And in case anybody didn't know he is Apple's editorial games manager for the App Store.
Oops, wrong forum! When I saw the word "HARCORE", my mind was completely elsewhere For a second, I thought Apple backed down from it's "no overtly sexual content" policy...
some of those games listed aren't even hardcore :/, pretty sure there are more difficult games out there *cough battletoadsforiphoneftwcough*
< Squareball is about the only hardcore game on the list to be honest, the rest are just iphone attempts at console games. Squareball is extremely difficult, and built and designed for the iphone specifically. It's because it's a good, unique, ''iphone'' game. And by ''iphone'' game, I mean it's one of the few games that feels complete(the content and production values are outstanding) and isn't a port, or a rip off, or trying to remake a console experience,it's not a short gimmick, and it takes itself seriously. It's a true iphone only experience, that can't be done better than on the iphone. There honestly aren't many of them when you look(maybe eliss or rolando can be examples of what I mean). TA's lukewarm reception is astounding considering.
Is that sarcasm, or am I missing something from squareball other than moving a black and white screen from right to left with the right timing...?
