Hi Everyone, I'm here to show off a first sneak peak at one of our new games in development and to get some early feedback and impressions from you gamers Any feedback will be welcome and help to shape the final game. Here is a video showing the initial menu section of the game. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Just a reminder it is a very early version of the game still. It is tentatively titled Siegecraft - Crossbows and Catapults. This version will be available on iPad1 and 2, with graphics optimisations for the iPad2 (visible here). It is anticipated to be free with in-app purchase to unlock extra races and maps/levels. After the launch of the iPad version we definitely have plans to bring the franchise to iPhone, but it will use slightly different play mechanics to suit the smaller device. Please comment with your impressions of the look and feel and stay tuned for game play videos and screenshots in the very near future!
I cannot comment on the gameplay as there were no details provided =) As for the look, I must say that I'm really digging it. Gives me an old Warcraft 3 vibe. I imagine seeing races like Orcs, Goblins, and Elves. They just seem like they'd fit this art style very well. Just my 2 pennies =)
Graphics good, but u really need to show some gameplay for feedback. And the cat at the end was pure epicness.
We will definitely be looking for beta testers! If you are interested in being a beta tester please post here on the thread and also PM me. We currently use TestFlight to send out builds, so please register here https://testflightapp.com/ to prepare for beta testing. Testing will not commence for a couple of weeks yet, but can never register too early Glad to hear that people are liking the look, and we still haven't shown off particle effects and animations! I've attached an early concept sketch for one of the characters in the game. Soon we'll be able to show more of the playable sides so stay tuned!
We are getting closer to showing some game play footage. Our musician is just working on first draft of our music and sound effects. I can show you a comparison screenshot for now that shows one of the differences between the iPad 1 and iPad 2 graphics that will make it into the game. Here we show how the water is different between the two versions. The iPad 1 will be restricted to OpenGL 1.1 to improve the frame rate to playable levels. While the iPad 2 can run OpenGL 2 with ease and perform real dynamic reflections and refractions. iPad 2 also will support camera blooming and blurring, I'll post a comparison screenshot showing that when I have more free time. By the way, anyone interested in Beta Testing please PM! We have one person signed up, and will welcome more testers. Cheers, Ben.
The pixelated textures are a deliberate design decision and we feel it does look very nice with the advanced graphical effects that we have layered on top. However if we do receive enough negative feedback about the textures we will revisit our decision to use that style. All feedback is welcomed!
understood. it has a minecraft feel to it, not sure whether that's god or bad though i guess it'll all depend on what the rest of the game plays like.
Beta This game looks really interesting. Its made by a great company too. I just signed up to beta test the game and am really looking forward to it. It was super quick and easy to get signed up so anyone at all interested should give it a try as the first build is coming soon. Ayrton
Looking the vids and pics, this looks quite a bit like the "Crossbows & Catapults" board game I used to play with my brother as a kid. The castle towers look just like they were taken straight of out of the board game (with the exception of them floating in mid-air).
I can't begin to guess what type of gameplay you have planned, but I'm actually digging the pixelated textures
Thanks for the continued feedback! Marcus70 wins the prize for guessing the inspiration for the game And yes because its a "computer game" we are able to do so much more than the original board game, but hoping to capture that simple and primal fun factor that Battlegrounds: C&C had. For example we are currently working on some power-ups. Imagine in the old days if you could take the "battle tokens" and douse them in fuel so you could shoot fireballs at each other! Or what if the archers could actually shoot at critters on the battlefield?? Gameplay videos not too far away, and they'll start showing off some of the features of Siegecraft. The vids will also signal the start of our Touch Arcade users alpha/beta testing, so be sure to register with us in time. Cheers, Ben.
Quick update. We are very busy finalising some more game programming and getting some new music, sounds and art into the game before the first round of testing. Here are a couple new colour images that will be used in game and give another hint to the game lore. Knight's race Viking's race Thank you to the people that have already registered to test. To make sure the testing process will run smoothly I'll be sending out one of our other nearly complete games to your test devices in the next day or two. Cheers, Ben.
