That seems like it would be correct. If the computer gets to hot I'm fairly certain it will auto shutdown to prevent damage. May I ask what type of work your doing on it to make it so hot? Gaming, video editing, etc?
Kinda depends what the CPU is inside as well. You might be able to Google whatever device you're using and find out the shutdown temperature, if you're very close to it then you might be pushing it a little too much.
I guess I shouldn't worry about it too much then; I was just scared that it might cause damage to my CPU overtime and shorten its lifespan. I've been thinking though, I kind of want to overclock to at least 4.3 gigahertz but I'm not sure if this fan I want to get will suffice. What do you guys think? Edit: @Fire just lots of gaming...
Hard to say, in my experience there's a lot of trial and error with different types of setup so there's always a certain amount of risk involved. Just make sure whatever fan/sink you get that you apply a good deal of thermal paste, 'cause without it the heatsink is practically doing nothing.
