SKY BATTLES - Work in progress video: Steam Greenlight: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=244198767
Thanks Chunkout, I'm thinking of a variety of missions in different environments. At the moment, the main objective is to destroy all enemies. But I wonder if it would be better to also spawn floating crystals that the player has to pickup in order to advance to the next island.
Robot level This robot was built entirely in Cinema 4D v 13. Glad to see that the FBX exporter is working perfectly with Unity. For Character IK, just bake the anims in the timeline menu---> functions --> bake object, before exporting. http://magneticstudio.com
Sweet looking model! As for crystals for power ups/progression, every little bit adds depth and experience to the game. I'd give it a go
Sky Battles Thx Luke for your input. Now you got me thinking... I'm mulling over some kind of collector mechanic that your ship has to complete in order to advance in the game. It would also force your flying ship to enter areas of the map that are possibly more dangerous than others and gives opportunities for enemies to attack you while you're heading for a collector. Could work. P
Looks cool! Just noticed we're both using Kevin MacLeod's "Truth of the Legend" for our trailers score. Different game genres, but it seems we share the same musical taste http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=109255 Best of luck with your game! -flod
@ Luke Thx Luke. I may post a beta or do it through private link. @Flod Yeah, his stuff is really great. There goes our secret... BTW, Bumpscape looks like a cool fun game. Should do well. Is it live and, has the Mac App Store been a positive experience? Peter
I think Kevin MacLeod is hardly a secret around game devs But yes, his freebies are awesome. Thanks for your impressions! Unfortunately it is my first experiment on the MAS so I can't yet comment on its success. It isn't live yet. I'm planning to submit it for review very soon, though. -flod
SKY BATTLES Canyon level pics SKY BATTLES Canyon level pics It's a shame that fog in Unity kills FPS so much. Instead I opted to slice my terrain objects into seperate pieces and tint the materials gradually based on distance to cam. Magnetic Studio http://www.magneticstudio.com
Looks like you're making good progress! With the fog, I noticed a novel way of doing this in a demo project I cam across. Basically it used a number of 2 poly planes with an animated sprite texture that mimicked fog. In the sprite animation the fog went from transparent to opaque and the planes also rotated a bit. Perhaps something like this may work for you too? P.S. The demo was from EZGUI in the Castle Menu package, unfortunately since it's licensed software I can't send it to you. But if you're looking for a good GUI system (albiet a bit complicated/quirky but uber powerful) it could be a good option for you!
Thx Luke for the tip. I'll have to check that out... Hope to post a video next... Stay tuned. Peter http://magneticstudio.com
Cool, kinda reminds me of the Star Wars games where you do a trench run on the death star! It would be cool if you could go under the bridges too! Btw, what are you recording your videos with?
Hey Luke! Yeah, I have fond memories of a game Rebel Assault (I think) back in the early 90's. I've also looked at some Starfox game footage for Inspiration. Bridges, yes! Player can fly above and below, there is room but it,s tight which is part of the fun. The robot, I'm thinking will be smashing It to impede your plane's path in future levels. I'm recording from the Unity editor with Screenflow on my mac. Then I compressed to h.264 and uped to youtube. The compression quality could have been better, but good for now. Peter Magnetic Studio
