We're probably adding support for SteamPlay in the near future. While the game is far too heavy to run on current generation of iOS devices, we've been prototyping a Rochard-themed iOS game based on game mechanics suitable for touch controls. The gameplay will be quite different, though. Its already in Unity 3D so shouldn't be so hard.... xenit Well-Known Member Feb 26, 2012 46 0 0 CEO @ Recoil Games #14 xenit, Nov 14, 2012 Good question! Although the game uses deferred rendering that requires a lot of bandwidth, this is not an engine issue in the first place. It's more about controls: there are quite a few buttons that you have to press simultaneously, and implementing this on a touchscreen device is not a feasible option. Thus, the game should either be simplified a lot or there should be a controller available -- unless someone comes up with a brilliant touchscreen interface. defred34 Well-Known Member Aug 27, 2012 1,408 0 0 Earth #15 defred34, Nov 15, 2012 I think if this game were simplified, it would be better. The mobile gaming audience is a lot more casual too. Hopefully, you guys consider this. clever_bug Well-Known Member Oct 22, 2012 224 0 0 #16 clever_bug, Jan 8, 2013 So the problem lies in the fact that (1) iOS devices' touch-screen is not suitable for the game to be played (Project Shield has a touch-screen but also has a physical keyboard), (2) iOS devices' hardware is not strong enough to handle the game (Project Shield uses NVIDIA Tegra 4 which is much stronger)??? That was the time when iPad 3, iPad 4 and iPhone 5 have not been introduced. With the appearance of these devices, as well as upcoming iOS devices (iPad 6, iPhone 5S...), the second problem can be solved! The first problem can also be solved as there are some rumors that Apple is developing a physical game controller for iOS devices. Therefore, there's no reason that Rochard cannot be fully ported to iOS. Particularly when the developer already explained why they don't feel they can deliver a quality port? If there comes a time they can, I am sure they will, but do you really think your posting and complaining (using caps, bold, etc) is really going to make a difference? BTW, this is an awesome game and one of the first I picked up when I got my MacBook Air. So if you do own a Mac, and don't own this game, it is absolutely worth checking out. xenit Well-Known Member Feb 26, 2012 46 0 0 CEO @ Recoil Games #20 xenit, Feb 7, 2013 Well, there's no Rochard for iOS but we are still considering it.
