Don't get me wrong I love my iphone games, they're great but why do so many of these games have to be directed towards kids? Peggle, rolando, castle of magic... all great games but where are the games directed to more of an adult audience or at least a teen audience?? I don't understand why so many games seem to be directed towards kids, I wouldn't think too many kids could afford an iphone... Sorry but I want to see more adult type games like gears of war or something of that nature...

up until just recently, devs were afraid of spending money developing an adult themed game then getting it rejected by apple.

Um most successful video games are based for adults - halo, call of duty, prototype, gears of war.... And I live in the richest place in the U.S and yes there are a few kids who have them but the majority is teenagers and adults

I don't really understand why apple would reject any adult themed games, since they have several r rated movies for sale... even some unrated

Kiddish games appeal to the masses, from 5 year olds to 90 year olds. Teen to mature games would definitely do substantially well in the AppStore, but lets face it, along with the fact that Apple is anal about every little thing, blood and gore would look kinda stupid with the amount of processing power currently available. 3G-S wise, it'd look really good, but now, it'd look slightly more violent than Frogger.

How are you basing success? If you're basing it on sales figures, I suggest you go check out the sales figures for the Wii and it's "kiddish" games. I'm willing to be that the sales for some of those "kiddish" games (e.g., Mario Party, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario...anything) blows the doors off of any of those games listed above.

Regardless, who cares. I don't. And I don't see how Rolando and Peggle are "kiddish". I'm fairly certain that as many adults (if not more) enjoy those games as young kids do. I know I do.

What is it with people and graphics? Whatever happened to the damn gameplay? Honestly, it's a game, and if you buy it and have fun, then you've got your money's worth, haven't you? I have played the crap out of Peggle, and I'm sixteen. I actually -prefer- games that aren't realistic, because I play games to have the kind of fun I couldn't normally have in real life.

And to those who say people who play video games need to "get a life"... That makes no sense in itself. Video games are one of millions of different hobbies... It's like saying someone who likes fishing needs to get a life.

People seem to be getting more and more closed-minded... In a certain way, anyways. People judge things by their appearance all the time. Video games, people, places, hobbies, everything. It makes no sense to me. I think that the OP is being very video-game... Prejudice? I forget the exact word, that could be it, but bah to that, it's summer. A game should be judged by how much fun you get out of it, not what it looks like, or how advanced it is. People are payed millions of dollars to play baseball. that's hitting a ball with a stick. Pretty complicated huh? Basketball? Throwing a ball into a ring. Sure, there's rules and regulations, but that's the stripped-down basics.

I'm sorry for being angry and all, but labeling a game as being for a certain age group is insane... A game is what you make of it. How much fun you have. If you really don't like it, then just don't play the game, and not complain... You coulda just gotten a psp if you wanted your war-based first person shooter. I'm having fun, why should the entirety of the app store bend to a small group's preferences?

    /end angry 2 am rant

hmmm do you just make up your own specs? because from what i know it's *known* that the RAM in a 3g is 128MB whereas in the 3GS its 256, and the 3G runs ~412MHz and the 3GS ~600MHz(supposedly can perform around 800MHZ tho)
so plz dont give opinions that are completely wrong, the iphone is a ridiculously powerful gaming item

i think people are missing the point. kids games and kiddish games can be great fun. there are also many games that are not kid or young teen specific necessarily but even the games with higher "Ratings" are still kid and young teen friendly. i enjoy many kiddish games myself. but the fact remains that other gaming devices (ps3, xbox, etc.) have games with mature ratings, for people over 17, and they obviously sell because devs keep making them. the touch/iphone, like other systems, aren't exactly cheap, neither is buying games/apps regularly. i understand that parents buy all of these devices for their children, but adults buy them for themselves as well and as such, should be able to buy mature themed games if they want to. they should not be hindered from that option just because parents want to buy touches/iphones for their children. parents buy ps3s and xboxes for their children as well, yet adults using those systems have the option of buying mature 17+ games if they wish. i think this was the OPs point, not that kiddish games aren't fun. i, for one, would love to see a horror game rated above 12, one that is actually scary. like most horror movies, which are R rated, i'd like to see a 17+ horror game where the dev doesn't have to hold back.

How am I basing success? Halo 3 was the top selling video game of all time... and all the games I listed sell legions more then the one's you listed. The wii sells more systems, but the xbox sells an insane amount more of games. You obviously know nothing

Why would you think that? My 80-year-old aunt still plays 3-D Ultra Pinball and Hoyle Casino games on her Windows 95 PC!

Many of the "adults" on this forum have been playing video games since the atari days. Many of the threads about Doom, Wolf3D, etc. were started by people who have been playing games since before some of you were born!

We have families, careers, mortgages...and part of our "life" includes playing video games, as it always has. And most likely always will! :)

Those specs are a small part of the equation. The real difference is that 3GS has a GPU that uses OpenGL 2 compared to other devices using version 1. That means more powerful 3D graphics, using better effects, textures and more polygons.

NOT TRUE. Halo 3 sold about 8m copies. Wii Sports over 45m. Even Mario Kart Wii sold over 15m copies!

Next time, I suggest you actually look up the numbers before you go saying crap like that.
