Man, they should build in a safeguard asking you to verify if you want to spend a large amount of gems on something. I was planting crops too fast (repetively going through the motions and planting a bunch of plants), clicked the wrong thing and wasted 105 gems on making a stupid plant grow immediately! Grrrrrrrrr!!!

Did u figure out any solution? The same thing is happening to me. I even tried selling all the houses and rebuilding them. That doesn't work.
