Its your birthday? Sweet, I'll send you a code as a birthday present then. Message me in case I forget because of the launch extravaganza.
This is a nice strategy game. A bit hard to understand at the beginning, there are a lot of actions and choices to do. You control a nation and can build missiles (to attack and defend). You can also expand on your neighbours. You can research technologies to improve every nations you control. The action is real-time based. I think I would have prefered a turn-based approach to have more time to think. I think the game deserves digging into it.
Hey,it's my birthday today too! What day was it again?? Ha ha I'm just kidding. I couldn't resist. Don't worry. I plan on buying this one. Looks exciting & heart pumping.
surprised it took someone so long! I was going to buy it too, but who can say no to a birthday present hey
Thanks for your initial impressions. Is there a tutorial? Also, I thought it'd be turn-based, too. So, the game is in real-time?
Yes there is a tutorial, quite light but understandable. You will have to experiment by yourself a lot after it though. Yes it is real time.
Are there IAPs? If so, can the game be played without them, with the benefits offered through the quick-and-dirty IAP purchase, achieved through regular, non-IAP supported play-throughs?
@nemo66: yea you are right, I'll edit it right away. @coledaddy: no IAPs, all the content is fully accessible through unlocks by playing the game. Depending on how well it will fare, we also got some big goals we'd like to do, like bluetooth multiplayer or a Vita port. But it will depend heavily on how it will be received. @Lavender: Ha, nice try Thanks for the compliment @bewi: thanks for writing a quick first impression. Let me know if the real-time/time-managment aspect suits you. I tried to make a strategy game, that could function with time being the only resource and am very keen on hearing the experiences.
I have to say the real time approach is very good. But I am a big fan of turn based because it gives time to think. The game would maybe be a bit slow and boring if it was turn based. Maybe a pause button that would let you some time to think and engage actions could be a nice addition ?
Well, we did kind of a middle ground. Selecting a country slows down the time to 40% and researching it further in the tech tree can bring it down to 15%, which gives quite a lot of time to look around when it gets hectic. But you are right, a pause-anywhere function like baldurs gate might be a good option for people who prefer turn base strategy (plus it look amazing to zoom and rotate while time is standing still :O)
What kind of unlocks/upgrades are there? Are there persistant unlocks? Or just a tech tree you start at the bottom of every time you play a match?
