Don't think there has been a thread like this for a while? as far as I'm aware there is no official data from Apple so here is the best place to ask only interested in hardware not firmware. It was the announcement that older generation Touch's and iPhones probably wouldn't be compatible with Game Center that got me wondering what percentage of the market uses each - as it's primary gaming iDevice (I hate that saying) - if you own more than one, as you can only vote once! Please click on the poll and post a comment if you wish, cheers.
Still have an iPhone 3G, and it does live actually it really does! The battery is alive. Oh me and my iPhone, what a history, I dropped it in water, bought Silica Gel(some chemical stoff) put my iPhone in it, waited 14 years. That was a year ago.
There seems to be lot's of iPod Touch 3Gs. Although it's still pretty early on in the poll. I have an original iPhone and an iPhone 4 - both ends of the scale Obviously my iPhone 4 is my primary gaming idevice, but I like to keep my original iPhone as backup.
My friends 3G is sooooo messed up: the lock button doesn't work, The mute button is about to fall off, the USB port is extremely cracked, and his volume up button no longer works. I thinks he is getting an iPhone 4 for x-mas though. Anyways, I have a 3GS.
iPod Touch - 1st generation Yep, I havent upgraded yet. I will when the new iPod Touches are released though.
Definitely the iPad...haven't played a game on my tiny old Touch since the iPad came out. It still makes a good music player, though.
well my ipod touch 2 is still working, with the iso4 update my battery has been draining faster and faster, thankfully sept is soon, and i can upgrade to ipod gen 4. thought about a ipad and i have a use for it.. but no way im gonna spend my rare pennies on a first gen ipad.. ( i think this is a sound plan as i got crap load of miles out of my gen 2 ipod.. figure id get same out of gen 2 ipad ) ill wait for gen 2 ipad.. chris.
Still using the iPhone 3GS. My wife and I didn't get smartphones until we got the 3GS this past September/October. We'll likely upgrade to whatever the 5th Gen phone is (likely next summer).
I have an iPad, iPhone 4, and 2nd gen touch, but my primary gaming device is the iPhone 4 because I always have it on me, it's the easiest to game on when I have the time. Plus it has the best technical specs as it's the newest device.
I definitely voted iPad. While there are a lot of great games on the iPhone 4, the larger screen on the iPad just opens up so many new possibilities. I do generally only play iPad native or universal games on the iPad, though. Once we get folders I'll probably load more non-universal games as well, but I'm out of screens to put apps in and can't remember all of the apps that have overflowed past the screens we can have visible on the iPad. I also play quite a few games on the iPhone 4. Any game with tilt controls is generally just more comfortable to play on the iPhone than on the iPad due to the weight of the device.
Didn't got any touch devices before. Just got an iPad two weeks ago and have been playing a lot of board games. Now looking for more action games. Thus I just joined the forum to find out more.
So far 28 out of the 78 voters won't be able (in theory) to use Game Center - that's just over a third. 2nd Gen & 3rd Gen Touch's are the most popular gaming devices so far, closely followed by the iPhone 4 (just posting that for reference in case things drastically change).
