The whole point is it's too plain and could describe any number of games in the App Store. Not to mention it tells absolutely nothing about the game other than the fact that there are monsters in it.
Adding "defense" still only narrows it down to about five hundred. They're better off going with what sounds best and doing some effective promotion. Simplicity is memorable and catchy, ask Apple.

I'm not necessarily arguing for something named "defense" either, because I completely agree with you on that point. However, simplicity alone is not enough. It also has to stand out. To me, Monster Madness just doesn't stand out.
Gate Guardian Demon Gate, Monster Rush, Grave Defense - sounds terrible I think, but, Gate Guardian and Monster Madness - sounds better. My vote is Gate Guardian (because GG sounds better then MM )
