Tried the update. My rating remains 1 out of 5 stars. It still lags behind and the only difference is the fighting. You don't have to be adjacent to the enemy to strike it. But they still run away and overall the game just feels dated and not in a retro way.

Really sad to read mostly bad about this game.
But since the developer updated it at least once, I love RPGs and the price just dropped I am jumping in in the hopes they will improve the game further or use the money to make better games in the future. ![]() From the video it looks like the game was created on a mobile phone and then (poorly) converted to the iPhone. I don't mind low quality graphics, but the choppy character movement sure ruins a lot. Lets see how it plays.. |

I played the first few quests and made it to level 8.
At the current price point the game is really not that bad. However, it could need some more tuning to make it overall more enjoyable. The story is nice, not too much and not to little text for my taste. If the game would go through one or two more updates I am sure it could be well worth the money. So in case the developer drops in, please consider: - let the player turn the music and sound fx of separately. the music really is quite repetitive while the sfx are ok. even better would be a volume control as currently everything is way too loud. even at lowest ipod volume level I feel like disturbing everyone around me. :-) - the funny looking movement, choppyness, seems to actually come from the scrolling of the map (in city/towns) and not from the character itself - enemies with ranged combat feel to be overpowered. it seems they do the same amount of damage and even further stun the hero while he moves, this makes it very difficult especially if you face randomly 4 of those. - I never like death penalties, but they are ok. however, the problem comes from been resurrected where you left of. in my case I died due to no more potions to heal myself, then I died a few more times just in order to get back safely to town. - I invested points into my paladins healing skill, yet I have no clue how to activate it. how does one accomplish that? - the game seems to let you spend the most of the time in combat, yet that part is not that fun. if combat would not be multiple rounds, but just one, it would be nicer. maybe also add some damage values to see how much damage the hero does, it might make it more interesting |

Is it just me who has terrible lags when playing this game? Tested it out on an Ipod Touch first gen and Iphone 3gs and both has the same problem, this game looks so promising but the lag of the movement speed sadly just kills it I hope an update is out soon to fix this problem..

Three year bump there; although developer MinorAxis has several recent iOS RPG releases there doesn't seem to be much indication of fixed for Dragon Sword RPG or their other early iOS RPG games. I infer the developer considers these products older and not consistent with the quality of their recent products. When I've inquired in MinorAxis thread there hasn't been much of a response.
