SwipeNova Well-Known Member Mar 20, 2015 193 0 0 #4 SwipeNova, Apr 16, 2015 It sure looks decent Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 2 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #5 Exact-Psience, Apr 16, 2015 Tis ok... Plays almost like Record Keeper, except you drag from your character to the enemy you are targetting to attack them. Actions you perform increases a common gauge for all characters, which you use to cast skills. I dont like this part coz it means if you have a short gauge, only 1 character can use a skill, while the others attack to increase the gauge again. This means, most of your skills cast will be heal. LOL. The visuals sure is nice, the combat is more "player-involved" (but not much), and the craft system for masks and equips are a decent system albeit not so original, but IMO Record Keeper blows this out of the water, especially with its well-loved characters and the game's overall charm. I'd also pick Road to Dragons over this if i wanted to play more timer-soaked game. Road to Dragons' timers arent as aggressive because each mission actually takes time to complete, especially if you are micro-managing for optimal paths. andysmash Well-Known Member Apr 6, 2011 2,067 1 0 #6 andysmash, Apr 16, 2015 If you prefer turn-based over active and have no Final Fantasy nostalgia, would Record Keeper still be a better game from what you've seen? Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 2 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #7 Exact-Psience, Apr 17, 2015 Maybe. I did admit that FFRK is better mostly because of the characters and the nostalgia. Past that, they are a bit similar, with one having a more modern makeover. kenken11 Well-Known Member Sep 29, 2012 1,808 5 38 #8 kenken11, Apr 17, 2015 FFRK is so boring because I get to win by leaving on "AuTo" for all the hard daily event and limited floors event except the last few bosses. And the elite lvl are overpowered even with my near lvl 45s team. triptych Well-Known Member Jul 29, 2012 203 0 0 #9 triptych, Apr 17, 2015 I'm digging this game. The battle music reminds me of Final Fantasy. It's pretty cool, if really tiny on phones Womble Well-Known Member Sep 21, 2013 180 0 0 #10 Womble, Apr 17, 2015 Surely it's more likely to be Japanese.. Trials Frontier was bad enough, i don't want to repeat the process for a rpg, especially when there are premium rpg gems for ios... Ringerill Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2012 315 170 43 #12 Ringerill, Apr 17, 2015 Thanks for this information! Energy in a RPG is quite a bad thing... They should announce that along with the warning of possible IAP in the game. SwipeNova Well-Known Member Mar 20, 2015 193 0 0 #13 SwipeNova, Apr 17, 2015 Really? They should announce that a FREE game have possible iAPs? lol Ringerill Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2012 315 170 43 #14 Ringerill, Apr 17, 2015 Hum, I guess I expressed myself incorrectly or you misunderstood but I meant that the Energy system should be announced (btw, I meant that as a Joke). And well, to answer your question, Yes, they do announce IAP sometimes and it's cool because it lets you know if you have to expect a paywall or something similar. Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 2 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #15 Exact-Psience, Apr 17, 2015 Kemco games let you know of IAPs, but have never had any paywalls. Even some Square Enix games have this IAP warning, zero paywalls. Some games add a disclaimer in the app description that mentions the game having IAPs, that you can turn them off in the settings, and yet have zero paywalls. Having IAP warnings or disclaimers doesnt mean you should expect anything like paywalls or something similar as you put it. Ringerill Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2012 315 170 43 #16 Ringerill, Apr 18, 2015 Yes, well, you're totally right. I didn't want to enumerate everything that could be done via IAP and again I've been misunderstood ;_; But nevertheless, Energy system is almost always ruining the gameplay (of course some games balance it perfectly, I know). I have nothing against IAP, they allow many great things. But energy and waiting? Well, I'm not okay with this unfortunately... But maybe we shouldn't begin such a debate over here. I'm just happy that someone told us that there is an Energy system and I know I won't be the only one who won't even try the game just because of that. Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 2 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #17 Exact-Psience, Apr 18, 2015 Yeah, energy system is a huge factor. There are some that are pretty balanced still though, but most of the time, they are a nuisance. In this one i dont know how it will fare in the long run. Like FFRK, the early parts of the game the energy isnt an issue at all, until missions start requiring more and more energy per run. Codex New Member Jan 25, 2013 3 0 0 #18 Codex, Apr 18, 2015 I'm liking it. The energy system feels much less restrictive than FFRK, simply because I've played up to stage 5 and the energy cost is still 3 per run, with the enemies in each run becoming stronger and therefore more time-consuming to defeat. The main issue right now for me is the random nature of ... well, just about every aspect of new equipment. Forging new equipment/masks means getting the right drops--which are random (btw ... how on earth do you get those crystals required for the masks? they're not in any of the drop lists, but I managed to get one once ... somehow). Fusing masks means getting two that have the same ability ... which is randomized between one of eight possible abilities per scroll. And when crafting new equipment, there's a chance of not getting abilities on the item as well. And then the friends' list. Why am I still getting level 1 friends when my leader's mask is at level 8 already? And I have to go through all of them before the list refreshes, forcing me to tackle easier dungeons with the level 1 friends. Which I guess is alright if I had low level masks I wanted to level up (all the stats reset to level 1 with a new mask!), but that also means that anyone I'm friends with will suddenly find themselves with a low level friend for a while. The inventory space looks like it will be troublesome eventually.... For instance, you can have only 20 masks, but there are four elements, multiple mask types per element, and 8 possible abilities per mask type (although the abilities are not unique to a mask type). You can only increase it by using gold, which at the moment only comes from completing the limited list of achievements. Overall though, I'm enjoying the game. The tutorial only teaches the general gameplay mechanics, which means you have to figure out the nuances of the game for yourself. The battles themselves are enjoyable, and although there is an auto-battle option, I never feel like I want to use it. The stamina requirements are not restrictive, so I can sit down and play for a satisfying stretch at a time. Hopefully Square Enix will continue tweaking the game to make the random element feel less cumbersome. I am past the first challenge level and it still costs three stamina. There are generally more creatures per round and you cannot trust the auto play to make the best strategic choices so I play through them. By the time I am done I have earned 1 to all 3 stamina back. I have not run out of stamina yet, unless I purposefully drain it on earlier easier levels. You can add me if you like 4679 is my number. So far it is a nice distraction in between the quick stamina drain of FFRK. Edit: Crystals are random drops. Do stages that have items the color of the crystal you are looking for and sometimes they show up on the wheel. I've stalled on my first set of masks (level 9) and am raising a new set (level 7), because Daze is really awesome and the level 2 Haste freebie is nothing to sneeze at. I'm hoping that a Double Strike/Daze/Haste/God's Hand combo will do the trick. P.S. I've only had crystals appear on my wheel twice so far.... (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
