If it has a weakness that I've noticed so far, not having played much, it's that the character pictures don't seem to account for race, but only gender and class, at least if you're expecting Tolkien archetypes. Not a big deal at all. The gameplay is pretty old school Dungeons and Dragons, with reverse armor class and thac0 and all. Good stuff. The idea of the dev was to make a faithful and modern rendition of a Bard's Tale game, and I think he have succeeded in it. Even if I was not interested by old Bard's Tale game. I've discovered, after trying the game, and a small time of adaptation that there is more in this game then just the UI. If the UI, is the only thing that bothers you, give the game a try and see if you enjoy it nevertheless. If not, that's not a problem. If, you enjoy it, but would like SMALL improvements to the game, you can ask the dev on the silversword forum. Again, you have the right to not like the UI. But I think you should see past it. Fun game or not only about graphics and interface. eev Well-Known Member Oct 26, 2009 1,958 0 0 Germany #10 eev, Feb 17, 2012 quite fair, but there are some problems with playability at least on iphone. the menus and text options are too small to work good. it would not be a problem with a mouse but it's touch screen. the size of play area on iphone is very small. would not be such problem with a monitor but on iphone it is really tiny. but if developer wants to keep everything close to the original than it's ok, even if there are iaps which are definitely not a classic gameplay option. mike32 Well-Known Member Dec 18, 2011 135 0 0 #11 mike32, Feb 17, 2012 Last edited: Feb 17, 2012 I agree with you with the tiny text options on Iphone. At the beginning, the game was tested on iPad, so this is why the ergonomy was not that good on Iphone. I and others have talked about it with the dev, and this has seen an improvements in the last version which has improved the ergonomy on iphone. For example, the tiny text enclosed by [] has been replaced by a big button which is now easier to select. The buttons have also been spaced a little more, so you don't tap on the wrong button anymore. The ergonomy is still not perfect, but i'm finding that with time you got used to it, and I'm not tapping the wrong button anymore If you tried that game a while ago, maybe you should try it again, because this has improved. And if you have ideas to further improve the ergonomy on iphone, don't hesitate to tell it to the dev, because it will benefit to everyone For the iap, this is the dev's choice. I never buy iap in games. And here that doesn't bother me, because there are well hidden behind a shop button in the option menu and because there are not necessary at all to play and enjoy the game. Edit: Personally what I like in this game is that it reminds me of the best RPG in the world (in my opinion) which is Baldur's Gate. I found a lot of things from Baldur's Gate into this game (the 7 characters party, the strategic turn-by-turn combats, the good story that deepen as you play, ...) I know it's not Baldur's Gate on ios, but I think it comes close to it eev Well-Known Member Oct 26, 2009 1,958 0 0 Germany #12 eev, Feb 17, 2012 @mike32 i've tried also the latest lite version. but this stuff with ui and the play area was already posted in the games thread so that's why i wrote that probably dev is not going to rework it. there are dozens of possibilities to make it more user friendly on iphone. so it's not the question of possible solutions i think. it's more like what dev decides to do with this game. mike32 Well-Known Member Dec 18, 2011 135 0 0 #13 mike32, Feb 17, 2012 For the suggestion on this forum, I don't know if the dev is actively reading them as he is doing on the silversword forum, so if you have good suggestion you may try to post them in the appropriate category in the silversword forum. Im my experience, as long as the suggestion you make will improve the experience of the game for everybody without compromising the will of the author to stay faithfull to a bard's tale game, your suggestion will, most of the time, be taken into account. Of course, in the end, the dev will have to decide to implement it or not but this is the case with every games.
