This is awesome, I've been hoping this would come out for, well, forever. I'm planning to get infinity for my daughters this Christmas, and to tie it together with this? Yeah, awesome. For free? I'd have paid for this, totally!

This was supposed to have been released 3 weeks ago, maybe they should have waited even longer, because the performance is REALLY bad.

Anybody with an iPad 4 care to comment on the performance?
It's not great. And the game doesn't even look good.

The iPad version has very, very basic lighting, drastically simplified textures and geometry, it's true.

You will be absolutely disappointed with this app if you view it as an alternative to one of the console versions (aside from the 3DS version), or frankly even if you view it as a game. While you can play in the toyboxes, the experience and control scheme leaves a lot to be desired.

However, and this is the really important part, I find it a godsend as it is sooo much easier to build levels in the iPad version than to fight the awkward controls on X360. I can drop into gameplay quickly to check out layout and scripting without having to boot up the console then save it to the My Toybox cloud service for use on other platforms.

Full disclosure: I know how to use level editors and 3D packages like Maya, so I didn't have a difficult time navigating the 3D spatial controls. Your mileage may vary.

Besides the performance issues that others have mentioned, I have two issues with the app:
  1. 1. You cannot use texture sets from the power discs, which would not be a problem if...
  2. 2. Saving a level to My Toy Box is a one-way street. If I download and modify that level on my X360, while I can save it locally there's currently no way to upload it back into the My ToyBox cloud storage. To be fair, that is an issue in the console versions, the iPad version syncs to My ToyBox flawlessly.

The app comes with Mr. Incredible and you have access to any other characters that you've unlocked via web code. You can also enter web codes directly in the app and they'll propagate to all versions of the game.

That said, I have one of the D23 giveaway Sorcerer's Mickey figures but because it didn't include a web code, you can't use him in the app.

I bought this game for the Xbox mainly for the Toy Box Mode. Lol, I was bummed finding out I just spent 70 bucks on it and just got Toy Box Mode for free on ios, but after playing the iOS version, I'm glad I DID get it for console. I'm running an older iPad 2, but still. The game chugs so bad. Hopefully there's an update to fix the issues.

Anyone get this to run? I launch it on my iPad 4, iOS 6.1.2 (yeah it's jailbroken), and it opens, shows the initial splash, then closes. JB detection?
