    UPDATE 11-13-13

    Hi there folks!

So I've hit some delays with old Apple :(

Bad news: I have to push back to the 21st.
Good News: This means the first update which adds some cool new stuff will come out very very shortly after launch.

This might all be serendipitous anyhow, I didn't know if I was able to launch this week I'd be going up against Oceanhorn!
I really wanna play it, but I don't want to try (and fail) to compete with it ;)

Here is a new review of the game in the meantime:

    Thanks as always guys!
    -Ash

    UPDATE 10-21-13
here is a new trailer showing more bosses/mini bosses/ levels/ etc.

    -Ash

    UPDATE 10-18-13

    some of which include:

    *DK -mode (Big head mode)

*Mini Mode (make your player tiny)
    *Super Speed mode

    Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band
    (a real life band)
has been added into the town square :)

I'll have video shortly, but SteamPunks is basically if MegaMan X combined with the world of Steampunk.
I learned a lot about fine tuning platformers while developing HEAVY sword, and I think this game puts HS to shame So I'm excited for you guys to be able to try it out! :) (Not to say I dislike HS of course, I still think it's a fun game)

    More details soon.
    Feedback and questions always welcomed

I saw HS, and I'd never guess this is from the same developer. It looks quite good. Any more information on the gameplay?

    @coderkid

This is very much inspired by MegaMan X, so you have your basic run and jump, Dash, wall slide, wall jump.
6 main stages with 6 bosses, levels can be played in any order.
(There are also smaller sub levels and mini bosses)

7 main weapons, 6 of which are unlocked by defeating bosses.
with those weapons you'll be able to access different parts of levels to unlock secrets! (replay value!)

Then you can upgrade your standard gun by locating hidden parts scattered throughout all the levels. shot faster, reload faster, increased damage. then other cool gun add-ons which can be turned on/off, "Weaver shot" etc.

I will keep this IAP FREE!
I'm was considering including IAP for lazy people who don't want to unlock things by playing, but it's built just like the classics, if you explore and put in the time you can get all the secrets unlocked without the all powerful $0.99 :)
what are peoples thoughts on this type of IAP? a big part of me doesn't even want to even have a cheat to win option included. do you guys like having the option to get all the power-ups without playing?

    Thanks again!
    More details soon

The pixel art looks great, and really has the look of the old retro stuff like mega man, rather than the re-imagined new school pixel art. Looking forward to it!

Personally, I never (or rarely) act on IAP options, but for the casual gamer, IAP may be desired. I don't think there's a problem with putting IAP in it, my usual issue with it is if it's constantly shoved in my face like "BUY STUFF!"

Wow. I'm in love with the pixel art, the palette, the Mega Man approach, all of it. I really can't wait to play this. :)

As for IAP, I don't usually use it unless I'm doing it to reward the dev, or buying major content. Cheats? No thanks.

Oh yes, you'll be able to place and resize buttons or sure :)

Also, this will be a universal game (iPhone/iPad) but it will detect if you are playing on a iPad and zoom the camera out a bit more to make use of the larger screen/give you better view of each level

  14. Whoa, I love the aesthetic of the game and the art style! Really fantastic presentation, and I'm fan of how the gameplay looks. Beautiful is the word I would use to describe in-game graphics.

Want. Want. Want. Any hint yet on the general ETA for this sexy thing? Fall, Xmas, sooner? Lots of levels? Updates?

    @Jerreldulay Thanks :)

    @AnarKitty

    Thanks for the support!
    aiming for mid/late August release.
There will be updates, but there will be a good amount of content, extras, etc. from the get go.
I also like making games which have beginnings/endings, I know HEAVYsword wasn't the most amazing of endings, but I really think there is sense of satisfaction that comes with completing a game vs. killing green pig after green pig till you simply can't stand it anymore ;)
But then again, I'm not a millionaire and everyone at rovio is, so maybe I'm wrong lol

I'm still thinking up things that can be added while still allowing for a story conclusion, time trial stages, secret levels, mini games and such

Dash Boots and Crash Helmet are two of the unlockable upgrades which can be found

    Heavy Sword had it's problems.
As a whole I enjoyed it though.
I'd really like to see this be an improvement on HS.
If each game you release gets (even just a little) better, I'll keep buying them.

    Thanks!

There is the Standard weapon which you can find upgrades for "The Lost Parts"

    1: Faster reload speed
    2: Faster Bullets
    3: Stronger Bullets
    4: Charge shot
    5: Weaver Bullets
    6: 3 way Shot

then there are 6 weapons you unlock by beating the 6 main bosses
(keeping those secret for the time being ;)

some health boosters hidden throughout the levels
    and armor upgrades:
"Dash Boots" and the "Crash Helmet" (possibly one more, still testing two options out/seeing which fits better)

(These all of course visibly change the look of your character, as I always thought it was the coolest thing in the classic games when your guy really looked different when you switched gear :) )

Those are the main useful items, there are also going to be some extras which are just for fun.

    More details soon
    Thanks again

Wow, I must be blind. Didnt realize this was from the Heavy Sword devs until I went to their Facebook page. Looks like an awesome expansion on what made HS great

So I guess any new content for HS got rolled into this?
