Hi, Everyone! I'm Max aka VictorRay So I've been working on this game for almost 2 years now. I made this game to learn programmation but I think it turned pretty great and I'm almost ready to show it to the world. I'd like to have some testers to test the game and give me honest feedback on it. I showed the game to all my friends and they love it... But... You know, you can't really rely on your friend to give you honest feedback... You only need a testflight account and a iphone 5 or 5s. For the moment this is what the game is being dev on. Others devices will be supported soon. If you are interested drop me a e-mail here victorraydev[at]gmail.com please with a little description of yourself. Age/Country/Langage/HardCore or casual gamer/ What is Awesome Boots Awesome boots is a hectic twitchy and competitive 2D arena platformer. You have the last pair of boots since the government banned them. Jump your way to set a nation free. Backflip between 2 homing missiles that crash and kill a flying enemy drop 3 mines on the ground then blast an entire wave of foe just before duplicating yourself bounce everywhere like a pinball machine to finally get killed by a spread of missiles is the typical game you might encounter. Awesome Boots will be released as a free IOS game. Game Presentation AWESOME BOOTS “They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” Andy Warhol BackStory The government banned boots Nobody can jump no more nobody can dream no more. Thanks guys! Those comments are heartwarming. I'm really putting my heart and soul into this game and it's cool to finally see people reactions! @FabulosoGames & @Krisjet I'm working on a first gameplay teaser this week. Stay tuned. @noah0706 Currently I'm focusing development on the latest device but they will come soon. @copaeci Ipad support is planned but not at the release time. There are stills slots open for early testers. Cheers!
Here we go First 6 seconds Awesome Boots teaser https://vine.co/v/Mwa5xKaMl2D I'll post 1 video per week until the release! Thanks to all the people who are currently testing the game. Your guys feedback are awesome and pushing the game beyond!!!
Ok 3 weeks passed I worked hard and thanks to Forums members the game made huge progress! The game level and progression is now 100% procedural every game is now different! I made a Nice interactive tutorial wich include a lil bit of story telling. Now I'm adding content to the game! My goal is to add 2 new boss. 2 new enemy type. I'm currently thinking of adding skills. I'm thinking of implementing them a little bit like a roguelike. The more you play the more skills you have at your disposition and when you die you start again. -The first skill I'm thinking about would be called Missile kick. When a bullet get near you and you jump, you kick the missile back at the ennemies! If you guys have ideas of more skills I should add I'm open to suggestion! I still have 3 slots open for testers. If you want to join!
Yes! I think it will add a lot of depth to the gameplay! Here's an exhaustive skills lists i'm currently working on (subject to change) Money doubler [passive] - self descriptive Bullet deflector [active] - Kick the missiles back to the enemies Extra life [passive] - Free Extra life Shuriken [active] - Throw ninjas stars every time you jump Explosive landing [active] - when you land on the ground with enough speed enemies surrounding you get hurt! Disk Magnet [passive] every time a diskettes drop it automatically fly in your direction. If you guys have any suggestion feel free to suggest more! I'm receiving a lot of tester request and people seems to be really enjoying the game! Thanks you so much guys for helping me in making Awesome Boots an awesome game!
I'm glad we're helping! How will the player earn this skills while playing? I'm going to play some more and try and think of some ideas
Okay, downloaded the latest build. Awesome Boots may be still in beta, but it's already fun and polished, in everything from the art style to the varied enemies to the boss battles and controls. I like how you took a simple control scheme, simply jumping left or right, and crafted such action-packed gameplay around it. Bullets flying, homing missiles closing in, enemies shooting each other, deftly avoiding projectiles , bouncing off the walls, and slamming onto enemies. It's fast, hectic, and challenging. I'm playing on iPhone 4 and aside from unusually long loading at the Unity screen, the game performs great, no framerate issues. The aspect that stood out to me was that the buttons were labelled A and B, seemed like simple left/right arrows would be more fitting IMO. As for skill suggestions: Disarm - there's a chance you steal the weapon of an enemy you kill for a brief period Traitor - an X% chance that an enemy you kick will become friendly and attack other enemies Hack - an X% chance that on-screen projectiles will target enemies instead of you EMP - hitting the ground with enough force sends out an EMP that disables enemy weapons for a brief amount of time What other kinds of enemies are thinking of? Also what's your idea for how skills will work? Would you be able to choose skill you want to equip or would skills be randomly assigned?
