Heroes & Castles (Foursaken Media) - ARPG/Strategy/Defense - Coming Jan 17!

    Runes

    I mentioned before about Runes... these are Heroes & Castles form of a "soft" loot system. Runes can have 1 or 2 effects, ranging from bonus armor, bonus damage, healing abilities, lower unit costs, increased gold income, and a bunch more. In the future we'll be adding Runes that can imbue your weapons with fire, holy auras, and other effects that have unique properties only against certain enemies. There are literally thousands of combinations that you can find, and it is a cool way to further customize your heroes, even giving them a little flexibility beyond their inherent specialties.

    Runes can be found after clearing a "stage", and come in many variations such as Common, Uncommons, and Rare Runes. Of course the more rare, the more powerful. Better Runes are easier to find as you progress through the game.


    Paladin

    The second hero is the Paladin. The Paladin is a support hero, focusing on healing and making other units stronger. His attacks are highly disruptive, though not very powerful, and his health and armor are average. He has above average speed and running ability. His abilities range from a powerful, stunning blow called Retribution, to a Blinding Light passive which slows down all enemies in an area, to a powerful Holy Vengeance ability, which increases damage of all friendly units around him. Visually, the Paladin's abilities are a sight to behold, with huge light ray auras that give him a very "holy" feel.

    His elite unit is a powerful mage, which heals all units around him while dishing out massive damage with powerful ranged magics.

    Price?

    I might have missed it but do we have a price tag yet on this sweetmeat?!?

    Looking forward to this one for sure!!

    Maybe it means that at release there will be three heroes but later there will be fewer. :eek:

    We've built Heroes & Castles with expandability in mind, and we have a ton of cool hero ideas for the future :)

    No price point yet, but we'll be sure to release that info when we get closer to release - shouldn't be long now! Was planning on releasing a trailer a while back, but we just added a host of awesome new effects that have to be shown off :D Not to mention we've already improved a lot of the environmental graphics compared to whats in those early screens.

    @Foursaken So, every hero will have 3 skills, and the ability to summon an ultimate unit?

    3 active skills and 3 passive each - so 6 total skills and a special unit. Of course they also all have unique stats, attacks, and a rune slot as well.

    We'll get to more about general gameplay, units, your army and your castle defenses more after we wrap up the hero intros!

    Is it just me or could this game be awesome as hell if it would be multiplayer? I'm talking about real multiplayer and not only co-op.

    Deathmatch is already something we're thinking about... each having their own castle, summoning troops, building up their defenses, while fighting for map control (there are gold mines out in the field)...

    This would be a huge undertaking, but still something on our "maybe" list for future expansion ;)

    Engineer

    The third hero is the Engineer. The Engineer is a defensive minded hero that focuses on cheaper, better, and more durable castle defenses, and improved artillery. He has a huge, custom made musket-cannon which - while possessing medium strength - can also knock down most lesser enemies at range. His abilities range from constructing a free Catapult, to his Leadership ability which improves all other dwarfs damage, to his Hardened Walls ability, which makes it so building take no damage for a limited period of time.

    His elite unit is the defensive minded Dreadnought, a heavily armored dwarf with a huge hammer that patrols the ground around your castle walls. The Dreadnought has the highest armor rating in the game, and can shrug off anything but the most powerful attacks.

    We're getting very close. Working on trailer today, actually :) We're at the polish and balancing phase now, so I think we can still make our target of "mid Nov to early Dec", though its looking like early (1st half of) December is going to be most likely. We'll have an official release date as soon as we can!

    See above, really pushing to release December :) But we'll release a more specific date as soon as we can. What do you mean by "what store"?

    Thanks :) Doubt it for tomorrow, but should be out for sure by Friday (most likely sooner though).
