This is the most pathetic excuse ive ever seen from a developer backing up their reason for implementing timers. It you want people to keep playing, you make the game fun so people will keep playing. Why do you think Call of Duty generates revenue? Not from timers for sure. Why do you think people still play Modern Combat 2, a iOS multiplayer game from 2010? Definitely not because of timers. A more relavent game would be Sky Gamblers. Their multiplayer is up and running quite fine and they don't have timers. At least EA admits it uses timers to grab more money from its users. If you think you need to generate more profit, maybe transitioning to a paid app will help as seen by some developers.

Exactly.

If you're trying to use timers for this, it pretty much is trying to "trick" people.

And it really just has the opposite effect, because it's stopping the game from even being played.

Super Smash Bros games are still played. No timers. That's how it works. Make it fun so people want to play.

We can't make the game premium since it's an online multiplayer game and is dependent upon a large community within the game.

Timers are obviously used for monetization but we are not lying when we say that it's not our intention to trick you into spending money.

I'm saying you're not just trying to make people want to play by making the game fun, which is supposed to be the point of a game...

You're using this irritating thing in an attempt to make people keep coming back to get to play it at all.

Maybe "trick" is the wrong word for that, but...


Games are supposed to be fun to make people want to play, they shouldn't make people feel like they have to play the thing just to get to unlock everything without taking even longer due to timers putting a stop on it all the time... That will make people sick of the game too... It's no use...

Shouldn't it be better to not annoy people if you want them to like the game and thus spend money?
