After spending more time with this, I agree that it's pretty damn fun. Still wish they could do something to improve the framerate a bit. But it's a keeper.

For someone who's not a big fan of racing type games this is truly a blast. Glad I took the plunge.

I'm afraid the fun factor has fallen off a cliff for me.

As I previously mentioned, the screen is so zoomed in it's impossible to see far enough ahead to plan your route. So you're either just constantly reacting to stuff or you've played the level so many times that you can remember where everything is. The difference between gaining two stars for a level and gaining three (let alone four) isn't skill, it's how well you've memorised the track.

Now that's not too bad, just driving around like a loon is still fun but the problem is exacerbated by the fact that the game forces you to unlock levels by gaining stars. So if you want to get the later levels then you have to repeatedly play the same track over and over again just to memorise where all the big coin stashes and jumps are. It turns a knock-a-bout game of chaos and flamboyance into an exercise in rote learning. This is not fun. It is tedious and boring.

2 persons gave this game 1* score... Are they business competitors or what ?
Sorry but there is no way this game gets such a poor score... If you tried this game out it means you at least are quite interested in the genre and this is for sure not a totally fail in the genre... I enjoy pretty much this title.

Tell us why you gave this game 1*

One guy gave it 1 star cause it won't start on his IPad1, which is BS. The other one I'm not sure

Someone else suggested that the game would be better displayed in portrait so more could be seen which sounds like it would really help players plan ahead a little. Developers: any chance of that being an option?

I don't think that would help that much. If you were on the far right of the road you wouldn't be able to see anything on the far left at all. To make it work you'd have to redesign the levels to be skinnier, which would be a hell of a lot of work.

Probably the best solution would be to either zoom the camera out a bit or tilt it more so you are looking more 'into' the screen. But then both of those would result in a lot more polygons being shifted on screen and much more physics to be calculated. That would be even more work and almost certainly won't happen.

My opinion on the best solution: Get rid of the stupid unlock structure that forces the player to grind for stars and introduce a mode that's a bit more random. Kind of like a survival mode against a Blues Brothers style onslaught of cops. Ok, that's still more work but a lot less than the other two and it'd be more carefree and fun as a result.

Huh, I just got 4 stars on the first 4 maps including tut (yup, that's 5 altogether).
Doing oncoming near misses, aggressive driving and only remembering the locations of a few alternative routes really help. I don't remember the whole track, only ones that 'appear to have high scoring potentials'.
Hope this helps

Great to read all your thoughts about the game! Seems most people enjoy the action and chaos we aimed for. We are thinking about additional game modes and updates, and some kind of endless mode you guys suggested sounds really interesting! Also, removing the rubberband steering and bring back the good old Reckless powerslides should also be possible to include as an option to make more people enjoy it.

Might be worth mentioning that Getaway is not Reckless Racing 2. Think of if more as an appetizer. Reckless Racing 2 has been in development for a while now, and rest assured that we won't change what made that game so popular!
