Allar's comments:
In my final quarter at my college, I need to have three completed games in my portfolio to graduate. While I am working on a rather large project that takes up most of my time, I decided that to fulfill this requirement I would make two really simple games. I present to you the first of those two games: Jump or Die. Jump Or Die is a very, very simple side-scrolling 'platformer' built with the ridiculously robust UDK. Sure, UDK is complete overkill for a game like this but because I've spent the majority of my recent time in UnrealScript, I felt it would be fastest for me to make it with UDK.

The game is simple. You're a blue box and you have to jump over stuff otherwise you die.

Cheers, apparently there is a typo in the french version of the game so after that update is done, I might be able to post a few more promo codes as you get 50 per version.

Game Impressions

Enjoying this, its one of those games one more try, one more try, ok one more level, alright one more level and then all of a sudden its an hour later!

At first glance it looks like 1-bit Ninja and ChocoRun run had a premature baby, the graphics are basic, and theres not much to the controls, just jump (you atomically move right) but once you get past the first couple easy levels, the timing of when and how high you jump becomes very tricky!

Oh, one thing, I really like the music, but after 20 levels of the same music over and over, it would be nice to have a couple different songs/loops.

Thanks. The music was actually created in just 30 minutes by David Mason ( http://www.stainofmind.com ) who I strongly recommend to any developers who want quality music fast. I originally wanted to have multiple scores by Mason for different level sets, I felt that I couldn't figure out the best way to implement a UI that would mute/change tracks and at the time I felt forcing track switching would have been bad (but now I've learned a bit). In addition to more music tracks, there was also multiple objectives per level but I decided to take them out as while the UI for it all was simple, it just didn't feel simple enough.

If I have some spare time I'll be trying to release updates with additional 'worlds' and some localization changes. Apparently the guy I got to translate into German (which is a fluent German speaking friend) ended up using Google Translate... /rage.

In any case, if anyone has any suggestions to UI changes/multiple music track incorporation/anything really, I'll be monitoring this thread.

I would also like to allow players to just play their own music, but that seems to be a current limitation with UDK's current build. D:
