Reminds me of another cartoonish Metroidvania game from a year ago, where you were in the ocean. I'll have to see video of this first.

Yeah it's The Deep.

I took the plunge and played it for a while. So far all you're doing is flying around trying to eat different birds in the area, the goal is to keep eating and stay alive as possible. You eat to replenish life and dash meter. Some birds and fish are slow but give little health, so you're encouraged to go after the bigger faster birds. haven't played long enough to get in any danger besides banging against a couple cliffs and staying underwater too long, so I'veno idea yet what can kill you. The game menu promises powerups and the like. Animation abd controls are pretty good

I went back to playing Pigs In Trees cause that's really fun. I don't know if I like Fossil Feast yet, I'll have a definitive answer tomorrow after the other games.

Played for thirty minutes, it is okay but nothing great.

My main issue is that I leveled up to five, found my first secret area and then the game crashed and I lost everything.

Graphics are good, kind of a cartoon look to them but they work. There are three control methods, tilt, fixed dpad and floating dpad. Controls are good for the most part although early on the bird feels a little clumbsy. As you level up your bird abilities improve but I wasn't blown away by the upgrades.

This seems to be a live as long as you can type game but you can seemingly last forever as your health is based off eating prey and the prey is never in short supply.

I rather like this game actually. The gameplay feel, if anything, reminds me most of something like Death Worm. I know it doesn't look like much, but try the lite at least and you might be pleasantly surprised. Recommended.
