Default Dark Incursion by Big Blue Bubble

Dark Incursion is a side scrolling, hack and slash game that gives the player a full stereoscopic 3D experience. It takes place in an alternate reality in the late 1800’s, amidst an industrial revolution and a world war. The player is the character, Anya, who is one of the few who know about a secret military laboratory developing biological weaponry that could devastate the entire planet if it got out of control.

Gameplay video will follow shortly, game is scheduled to launch first week of November.

Looks great. A mix of Castlevania and Strider-ish gameplay?

Dark Incursion brings Metroidvania gameplay to a steampunk World War this fall

Games like Castlevania and Metroid are great. Really, really great. So great, in fact, that the term “Metroidvania” has come to describe any side scrolling platformer like them. Dark Incursions takes that Metroidvania gameplay and sets it against the backdrop of an alternate 19th century – one with a steampunk vibe no less – and adds in a dash of true red and blue 3D for good measure.

In Dark Incursion, the industrial revolution is interrupted by the onset of world war. Players take control on Anya, a character who must infiltrate a biological weapons lab secretly run by the military, destroying every bio-engineered freak in their path.

In addition to the upgradable weapons and attributes available as players progress through the game at launch, the developers are promising additional content that will be created based on user feedback. This additional content will include missions, maps, enemies, and more.

Big Blue Bubble are claiming that Dark Incursion is the “first smartphone game with full stereoscopic 3D experience,” however we’d be remiss if we didn’t point out that games like Crash Course and War Pinball beat them to the punch. Regardless, whether you play it in 2D or 3D, Dark Incursion seems to be sporting some gorgeous Castlevania-quality art assets.

Expect to pick up your weapons and storm a 19th century steampunk biolab soon – Dark Incursion will be debuting on iOS and Android this September, with PC and Mac releases to follow in October.

Well, it's Big Blue Bubble and their record in the App Store is mixed but generally positive. So there's a decent chance that this is the real deal...

The graphics look amazing for an iOS side-scroller. I'll look forward to the gameplay video.
