I'd be interested to know more about it. different Well-Known Member Aug 8, 2008 535 0 0 #4 different, Apr 29, 2009 I've got a review copy. My first impressions is that the card system works very well - you play one on your turn and receive another random card (could be good or less good). Strategy is about dropping weaker cards and using conditional damage cards when it makes most sense. For example there's a card that does 10 damage to your enemies base when it's perimeter defence is zero, 6 otherwise. Been getting more review requests which is probably unsurprising as the traffic is very high (than normal levels) this week. Will see if I can cover it soon though. mek Well-Known Member Jul 18, 2008 1,268 17 0 Boston http://www.drafternoon.com #5 mek, Apr 29, 2009 i am loving the turn based strategy games coming out ConraDargo Well-Known Member Jan 29, 2009 121 0 0 #6 ConraDargo, Apr 29, 2009 Getting it! Edited (also in post #17): First impressions: PROS - As the game description states this is indeed for a quick play - Fast paced gameplay - Polished presentation: graphics, sounds, interface - Good in game help - Local high score - sound on/off and vibration on/off CONS - Only one difficulty level - Only one scenario - Only local high score - There's no in game background music - I could not find a way to go to the initial Menu during the game - The animations (e.g. after a card is drawn) are less than I was imagining or they are not so obvious after playing the game just twice - You have to type your name in Top 10 every time you made a high score - No statistics, such as winnings/losses Without knowing the game very well I was able to win my two initial games. Well, since we're talking about random cards... Maybe, well "lucky me"... After you stop playing like a kid you see you have to manage 3 type of resources and you can build more buildings (the smallest number in white) in order to get stronger. Your stronghold gets bigger along the game too once you play the right cards. This makes the game very interesting. In my third battle I've attacked less, build more and out of the sudden a nuclear missile destroyed the enemy. I didn't understand why and how I got that powerful weapon but I'll try to figure that out. Anyway, right now I may say the game is easy to understand, play and even win. I'm not sure if the AI is weak or if I just got the better cards in my 3 plays. All in all, I like the game. The lack of difficulty mode (easy, medium and hard) can be a problem in a long run if the current AI is always easy to defeat in fact. I started a game without reading the help section and ended up winning. The goal of the game is to either a) build up your base to 60 which lets you fire a missile that ends the game or b) reduce your opponents base to 0. Cards require a certain amount of resources. Resources are color coded to make it easier to see what you need. Raising the level of a building increases resource production. The AI varies quite a bit. My first match was a quick win while my second was me fighting from the brink of destruction for the entire match. Of course with any card game it's a mix of Skill and Luck so that will happen from time to time. Loading a match (new or resuming) takes a little over 10 secs which is a bit much. If you have an iTouch it won't matter but for iphone users it will add up as you exit to answer phone calls or reply to a text message. I'd also love to see some kind of multiplayer in a future update. Wifi would be great but I will be happy with 2 players on one device. In the end it's a well thought out game that I plan on keeping on my iphone from now on. * Played on 1st Iphone * Mythbuster Well-Known Member Nov 19, 2008 1,250 15 38 Journalist In the middle of nowhere #16 Mythbuster, Apr 29, 2009 So I will pass and wait ... Markomcm Active Member Mar 16, 2009 25 0 0 #19 Markomcm, Apr 29, 2009 Last edited: Apr 29, 2009 Quick Impressions Downloaded, and started. as previous poster stated a 5-10 second load. The gameplay greets you with both strongholds facing each other, and six cards that you can utillize. As noted by previous poster, goal is to reduce the stronghold health to zero, or build your Stronghold to 60. I like the clean graphics and interface, sound effects work well though nothing really jumped out at me. The "card" system is not what I expected, I thought you could purchase card like Orions, doesn't seem like it. The cards were preloaded, so no building of decks. The different cards you can utillize does one of the following basic actions: Attack enemy, Build up Stronghold, build up resources, and several sabotage actions as well. The game play was fairly fast paced, and I enjoyed myself. I think it's worth $.99 - $1.99, at $2.99 it just seems a dollar to high.
