Thanks for the thoughts!
-So you prefer GC for the most part? I respect the OF community, as I have thousands of achievement points myself, but it's definitely cumbersome, and just seems to be losing its dominance. I don't imagine needing a ton of leaderboards and right now my game has seen almost zero social elements being used. The costs (loading, app size bloat, another layer of player intrusion) seem to currently outweigh the benefits (social elements, leaderboard limits). -That per-level stats comment is definitely useful! I might not have thought of that, but each level will probably create wildly different scores. My thought was to have Overall, Latest, and Highest stats for Accuracy, Score, and Kill Count. And I'll track best Scores per level. -I like that 2 option idea, but currently a good player only needs to play 15-25 minutes or so to unlock both levels. But this is also a tuning thing to work on. If it seems to take a while to unlock both levels, then I can add in the secondary option. And I'm also considering a 3rd option, of paying for lifetime kills. Lifetime kills might be the game's currency if I decide to go the IAP route. I'm very curious as a developer, to see how it might work in Dead End. Lifetime kills seems the most natural way to introduce IAP into my game fairly. My hope is that a player likes the game and therefore enjoys taking the time to unlock levels over 20-40 minutes of playtime, but if you care that much, you can pay a dollar to unlock the levels instantly. Which amusingly would also have the effect of making the player have an even more difficult time. The game doesn't get any easier. ![]() This would also require me to learn how to implement IAP which is probably another week of reading documentation! |

I got an iPad a month ago and wow, I need to make it universal so we can all enjoy it there. So yes, it will be universal at some point. But that's a decent chunk of work, I think, so not this update, but probably the following one. This current update is more about fleshing out content, and adding the endless mode I really drop you right into the action, whereas the original release had too slow a curve to the fun stuff, IMO.
Glad you like it Annette! |

Hi folks! My update to Dead End is now in review and I hope you like what I've done with it (will tell ya again when it releases).
The details for the game are now as follows: -4 levels -6 weapons (including a croquet mallet and exploding watermelon -2 game modes (endless and story mode [which is beatable]) -both 1-button control and 2-button control available -no more OpenFeint -lots of game difficulty tweaks and difficulty curve work and general improvements and more clarity and just tons o' cool stuff! And check out a couple new screenies below. I will probably update this game once more in a few months with another level, another weapon, maybe another mode, and most importantly: Universal compatibility. Otherwise, I'm pretty darn proud of what Dead End has become! Thanks guys, hope you like! |

by all means please purchase!
but just to clarify, it's not universal yet. it'll go universal in the next update, which is probably a few months away. right now it's just iphone/ipod touch. but yeah, I think universal makes the most sense here, vs any sort of HD version. I'm not a fancy enough guy to do something like that.
