BUT hanging it up for the Peridot .. which I've barely tried for. Eek!

@korvaire - thanks for the great post!i Here's to second childhoods!!

Hey all... I feel bad that I've missed getting the names of recent gem benefactors. "and others" has popped up a few times, and once the game crashed before I could take note. Let me know if it seems like I'm overdue to gift back, I'll put you on my list.
Am I the only one who thinks the Oly dragons are too big?? I mean, they totally dominate the size of our earlier dragons that seemed to be much harder to acquire. Blue Fire, for instance!

Steroids!
I agree. They are too big for their habitat. I'd rather they had a bigger habitat. At the moment they are like Marx brothers in a closet.

Yeah I think they look weird and demonic, or just weird. So I've chibbi'd mine. They're cuties when small- big eyes and sweet expression. Bouncing around. But not very Greek or Olympian. Habitat's cool though, if small.
Ha! Marx bros in a closet! Like that. Lol

Hi there, I've just started playing this game and I am a bit confused on how people in my friend's list can have thousands of gems. How do you get gems? I bought some to give support, but still, everything is quite expensive (like upgrading the breeding cave etc.)

Hi ednan, have fun with DragonVale and enjoy playing each day, especially as you level up, gain islands, new dragons, etc. There are many of us that have been playing for 8-10 months and have reached level 35, the current max level. We are not gaining experience as we breed, grow treats, spin the wheel, etc. until Backflip updates the game with more levels and habitats. I have many friends that buy gems, save their gems (don't use them to speed up breeding), gift and receive gems (with the Dragonsai Gifting Tree you can give one gem to 6 friends in theory every 24 hours), win 5 gems per day at the Colosseum, and over many months some have saved 1000-3000+ gems.

There are some players out there also, some I have unfriended, that have thousands of gems and a crown on every dragon (crowns mean the dragon is level 20). Over many months it's possible to achieve Gold shrines and increase a few dragons up to level 20; but most of these people have cheated the game and used hacks to give themselves unlimited gems, treats, etc. Many honest people are playing and saving up their gems, dragon cash etc. to buy future dragons if they can't breed a limited dragon but those with 12-17 digits in their park value are likely cheating the game.

Have fun!

I have never bought gems since I started playing, mostly because I want to see how far I can get without spending real money. I'm closing in on 200 gems thanks to friends, and also have more than $200mil in Dragon cash. Gotta love those party hats on my friends islands. I just maxed out at level 35, so I'm saving my money and gems for when I really need them. I'm not into the shrine grind thing, but since I'm maxed out level-wise, it would give me something to do while breeding rare and limited dragons.
Just have fun with the game. It can be frustrating when you breed dragons together and not get what you want. But this game is also fun and addictive!

The thing is, while I have 70 friends in my Dragonvale friends, many don't seem really active, and it's hard to filter whom a should give gems etc. I'll play patiently though. Does upgrading the building like the nursery/breeding cave worth the price?

I try to look to see what combos my friends are breeding when I visit their islands. I did unfriendly some people when I could tell they hadn't played in a while. Look at the forums too...most die hard players are part of a forum and post regularly. I'm a member of three different forums myself.
Speaking of upgrading..I didnt upgrade my nursery until after I got the epic breeding island. Then I needed more spots for eggs. I haven't upgraded the cave or island; that will only speed up the breeding time.
You can add me as a friend and I will gift gems. My GCID is Lady Redwolf.

Default Yay!! Another Dragon! Oh my

When it rains it pours (at least in some places)! Seasonal Dragon just released minutes ago - this one looks interesting, changes with the seasons, has its own habitats and according to the description there is rumors there is an opposite Seasonal Dragon to follow seasons in Southern Hemisphere. New habitat, new flag, that's all I see while scanning and typing.

Good luck all - let us know what works for you! No room for extra habitat right now, too bad an extra one hasn't been added by BFS. Will look good on a tree filled island!
