Briscola is now free!!

This is one of my favorite games. It's one of the few that I always go back to. I paid $5 for it when it came out.

It's called Brisca in Spain, Briscolla is the original Italian name. Both words mean "trump," which is what the game is all about.

Briscola / Brisca

You need to look up the rules online. That's the only downside. It's easy to learn, though.

BTW, it's only free until the update is approved. The update will bring local multiplayer.

Yep I admonish you all to get it. One of my favorite Italian card games...well it was new to me when I got Briscola but it's a fun one. Even though it's 200 years old.

Briscola for free? You have to take advantage of this. This is such a fun card game once you get the rules, and it's well worth the two bucks I paid for it.

I bought this a while back and didn't get it. That might have something to do with this free game of Hearts catching my eye around the same time. I will have to look up those rules and give this another go.

Why are the rules so hard for everyone?

Briscas is an traditional Italian trick-taking card game with some nice strategy. First player to 60 points wins. Beginning of game one card is drawn for trump suit (coins, clubs, cups or swords). Cards that have flaming on bottom simply indicate they match the current trump suit.

Rules are: Any suit matching trump highest card will win over all other cards. If no trump card is played, highest card wins of the lead suit played. If no trump card is played the lead suit will always win regardless of rank if two different suits are played.
Card Ranking
High to Low Points
1 Ace
11 pts
3 Three
10 pts
12 King
4 pts
11 Horse
3 pts
10 Jack 2 pts
rest 7, 6, 5, 4, 2 (zero points)

See the screenshot above...ok the computer played a 2 sword which is worth zero points. So I play a 3 cup which is trump so it wins the trick. Thus I get (zero points + 10 pts = 10points) for that trick.

Just knowing the rules is only part of it. You got to figure out the strategy of when to play your cards.

Thanks for the summary mrbass. Complete rules can be found here. It really isn't that complicated. It is like hearts, only... different.

I had to put in my two cents on this game... It's Great!

I reviewed this for the "unmentionable" site and found it to be a very good card game. I end up reviewing so many games that I don't get to go back to games as often as I'd like, but this is one game that has stuck around for me. And with the multi-player update coming up, this is even better... and it being free? Just get it.

This game is based on La brisca, which is a Spanish variant of the Italian card game Briscola. It says so in the website.
