We will still be cramming, but for now you'll have to play at normal resolution.
Then I guess this game will still be in my "not ready for play" pile for now.

I love squad TB games, so I grabbed this right away, but was waiting on some of the fixes announced before playing; guess I still won't be playing. If the ~1.5MB of extra RAM using SD graphics nets you is the difference between this game functioning or crashing, I'll wait. There's seemingly more problems in its performance than just SD vs HD graphics.

I wish it was only saving ~1.5Mb - then we could totally keep the retina graphics. Uncompressed full sprite sheets (once loaded) take up 4Mb of memory each at normal res, and 16Mb in retina. So it's a saving of 12Meg per sheet! We have about 4 texture sheets that we need to have loaded and uncompressed for the game menus and the like, so that's a net saving of 48Meg which makes a world of difference. Of course, all the 3D stuff is using compressed graphics so that's much less of an issue.

But we haven't given up on the retina for iPod front. It'll just take longer to rework everything into something that will have a much smaller footprint and still give us all the sprite elements we need.

I am so ready for the update that will bring turned based multiplayer if it ever comes. I know a few people who will pick it up once it comes, but they said the normal mode doesn't really do it for them.
I on the other hand have gone through every stage except the last one which
I will soon, But I'm really holding off on the multiplayer as well.
I'm quite not sure how you plan on adding it, But I am hoping it will be turned based in the sense that I take my full turn and once I do I click ok done and the other player gets a notification saying its his turn and he gets to watch all the moves I made and after he takes his turn etc, etc..

We're still on track for an online multiplayer version but that's going to take a little while to properly test and get to a fully working state. The gameplay for online multiplayer is going to be just as you describe though - you'll move your whole team and use Game Center to notify your friend that it's their turn. When they are done you'll get a notification and you can continue playing.

We've been super busy of the last few weeks addressing lots of player concerns and adding features that have been asked for. For a full rundown, check out the blog : http://tome-studios.com

As a summary, we have fixed a bunch of slowdown issues that some iOS 5 users were experiencing, added many gameplay, UI and save game tweaks, added many more sound effects and music tracks and gave the engine an overhaul to improve performance for all users.

And to top it all off, we've been working late into the the night to also bring you a brand new game mode with faster AI, new enemy units, an upgrade for the Captain (Dual Pistols! Yeah!) and pickup items in the levels.

Thanks to all your feedback the game is now feeling more awesome than ever!

Update 1.1 is out ( which now includes a mini-campaign) and price dropped to 1.99.

Downloading update; thanks to Tome for keeping things coming! Danger Alliance is well worth $1.99 for anyone on the fence.

No problem at all! After listening to all the suggestions from fans, we included pretty much everything we could and ended up with a huge update.

We'd really like to hear what you think of the game with all the improvements and how you're finding it.

If you played Danger Alliance before 1.1.0, give it another go as we've opened up new game modes in the Lite Version and added more polish to every part of the game.

And here are the current reviews for the 1.1.0 update:

----

Fantastic strategy game! - ★★★★★

by MarcusWN - Version 1.1.0 - Dec 19, 2011

Fantastic strategy game! This has great 3D graphics for deep tactical gameplay. Really love the unique units and very well designed environments. Thanks for adding the min-campaign and music in the latest update. Love the wraiths Looking foward to future updates. Please add more campaign levels and more skirmish maps in the future.

----

Best turn-based strategy in the App Store. Period. - ★★★★★

by CrysisDaMonk - Version 1.1.0 - Dec 17, 2011

On v1.0.3, I said three things: (1) I'd give TOME Studios 10 stars if I could; (2) Danger Alliance: Battles is the *BEST* turn-based strategy game in the App Store; and (3) If you liked General Chaos and Advance Wars from back in the day, you owe it to yourself to play this game, period. Now with the latest update, not only do the aforementioned three points still hold but TOME has *somehow* managed to make this game even better! Just read the "What's New in Version 1.1.0" above and see for yourself. Let's see here: superb graphics; cute characters; deep strategies; fantastic gameplay; and the list of improvements is simply ridiculous. You're getting so much value with the small cost of this game it's ridiculous. You still get your "10 stars," TOME! Great job!

Just picked this up, and it's a really solid tactics game. The inclusion of multiplayer will really take it to the next level.
