I know the $.99 game theory just is leading to the demise of a lot of developers because they just don't make enough. And the IAP route is okay for bonuses or "shortcuts" to get further in the game even in paid games. But freemium games that require purchase after purchase after purchase of IAP to continue to play scare the crap out of me.

I personally would MUCH rather pay $5 or even $10 - whatever I felt was the right price for a quality gaming experience than be nickled and dimed. If I go into a game knowing that there may be no limit to how much it will cost to finish the game, then I'm passing. Don't even want to download the freemium to try it out. And honestly, if this is the route that iOS gaming goes, I'll be doing a lot less iOS gaming.
You've summed up my exact feelings.

iOS is becoming the platform I'm playing the least of. It's because of freemium, casual titles galore and over abundance of unavoidable IAP in every game.

3DS is where I've been lately, SM3DL has captured me away from Skyrim, of all games lol

You need to leave the shop and go back to Daedalus in the trainer to turn in this quest. You should see a checkmark prompt on his location on the map.

Is there a site anywhere of what each class gets for skills? And, at any point can one change the skills you're forced to buy with your first 4 skill points? I've tried the respec option but it's skill leaving 4 points in those first 4 skills.

My character is level 14. A new mission has just appeared - 'Scout Work' (added in the update I assume, my character hasn't just levelled up). Objectives: Enter the Ebian Forest and visit the Bandit Camp.
But there is no location called 'Bandit Camp' in Ebain Forest, so I cannot complete this quest?

I’m having a great time with this game. I was just wondering if there were any other games similar in game play to this in the app store?

Thanks,
S-

@Smedley : CozyQuest definitely comes to mind though its no longer in the US app store for some reason.

Regarding this game : Good gameplay, no forced iap system despite what some are saying in its reviews. The tutorial introduces it to you and encourages you to use it but provides you with the iap currency for the quest and there is no point in the game at which iap forces you to open your credit card. There is plenty of loot and non-iap gear and options here.

This game is very good, a lot of fun...haven't bought any IAP and am Lvl 8 now, haven't yet felt the need...there's enough loot in the game to keep you going..and with all the releases this week buying IB2 , zombies and bards tale, been spending most of my time playing this free one, think that says a lot !;-) only thing I would ask for at this point is some retina support for the art (c'mon it's been 18+ months now devs!) and universal iPad support with cross device iCloud synching !

Do any of you guys experience problems with the server connection? Even though my internet works fine, the game tells me to check wifi and 3g settings upon trying to login unsuccessfully.

Unable to access my game.

Any suggestions?

Sorry about that! We've definitely got a bug somewhere and we're working on getting that issue resolved.

In the meantime, I'd try the following.

1. Update your app if you haven't yet. We released a new version yesterday.
2. If you have already, try deleting and re-downloading it.

Your character data is stored on our servers so you won't lose anything by doing the above.

Let us know if that helps, or feel free to shoot a message to our customer support. (Link below, or through the game's option menu).

I'm having quite a lot of fun with this game: I like the artwork and turn-based combat has a sort of Might & Magic / Dragon Quest flavor which somehow clicked with me.

I'm also liking the energy based actions which, although very Facebook-esque, do allow the game to be played in short bursts and don't imperatively force you to buy recharges with real money if you do not want to. I'm not fond of the whole in-app purchases as much as the guy next door, but this little RPG is playable even without them and I occasionally found drops which were more valuable that the shields-only items sold in the shop.

However, I was skeptical with this new update at first: potions are now the only healing source and do cost silver pieces, so I was afraid that would slow down any progress made towards a particular piece of equipment, and thus my character's power level in general.

That is, until i found something strange about the game's economy... 1250 HP potions cost 625, but 500 HP ones cost 200, so 3 of the latter net a total of 1500 HP for 25 less pieces, while 150 HP potions cost 50 and can give me 600 HP for 200 pieces, the same price of 500 HP ones.

So, while I'm still limited by energy, this new system actually allows me to grind some more, especially considered that monsters drop potions too from time to time and that there seems to be no limit for how many healing items I'm carrying... better start chugging them like there's no tomorrow when in dire straits, then!

I've had a Blast with Space Miner (ba-dum tsssh!) and I'm enjoying the hell out of Book of Heroes too... thank you Venan, keep up the good work!
