You know you hit the big time when:

(Not going to post the link)

Someone makes a cheat guide app for your game.

Despicable.

Hmm through an un-jailbroken device and could not find the list I was directed to look for. I suppose I could have looked harder but I was afraid of messing up the game. Hardly rooting around in my mind.

THIS app I mentioned is making MONEY off Junk Jack. They are SELLING the app. It might just be the recipe book, I don't know, I don't care, but they are taking advantage of a popular game and making money off of it. THAT is the despicable part. It is a company that is so uncreative that they take popular apps and make cheat guides or walkthroughs or hints for them in order to prey on the unsuspecting customer.

Maybe try to figure out the context of a comment before responding? Yeah?

Sorry, this response just wasted 5 minutes of my life.

First and foremost, thanks to the devs for making this game playable on the iPhone 3G. My two oldest kids (12 and 9) both have one and are having a blast playing this game on them. They miss out on too many games due to those old, crappy things. This will all be remedied in about a month's time. It's too bad that Apple didn't release an A5 iPod.

Regarding Lite versions ... I don't see the problem. I think a lot of people were complaining that they would have to start over when they removed the Lite app and installed the full version. With the IAP upgrade to full, one doesn't have to lose their progress. Are there any negatives to IAP-to-full apps?

Haha. I was joking around with you. (re: the apparent, if inaccurate, hypocrisy of bashing cheaters while rummaging through ipa files)

Maybe relax a tad? The world is chock full of lamprey -type companies making a buck off bigger fish.

All joking aside, I know that other game developers were able to get some of these off the market. Maybe Jack can too. I mean really - why do people think they can profit off other people's success is really my point.

Brady games sells walk through books for darn near every game that exists. Loads of other companies produce guide books as well. I remember buying Game Pro and NGM just for the cool cheat codes.

Was the game genie despicable? If we are talking about context, I think you need to look at that in perspective.

Also, you gave me some advice before, NEG, about when things get derailed, I think it's important to take your own advice here.

Minecraft, released a week ago, has a lite version. Search the app store and there are hundreds released on the 22nd alone. Most of them from throwaway companies. I think that speaks volumes about what the feeling is about lite/trial apps.

Yeah you are right. Thanks for the reality check. I guess I get a little too defensive of devs I think deserve more than getting taken advantage of. I was always under the impression that companies like Brady and PrimaGames were somehow in partnership with the developers so it wasn't them just making money off a big game.

If Jack is partnering with this developer that makes the guides then no harm, no foul. But if they go behind their backs for profit that is the problem that I see but of course nothing I can do about it and talking about it just derails things it seems. So yeah dropping it now.

---Different topic:

In terms of the lite - I myself tend to just jump into a game that interests me. Especially for a deep game like this because as others mentioned it is always a pain to get far in a game and then have to redo it. Maybe people could try the lite for the mechanics and stuff and not really get too attached. I dunno how to really limit a lite on this kind of game - one world? Collect only certain things? Not be able to dig as deep or build as tall? All that might be enough for someone and they might just stay in the lite version.

Lite to full via IAP someone mentioned - the only problem with that is the hard copy of the game does not exist anywhere but your device. Some people get nudgy about that. Like if you change devices you have to restore the purchase etc. Not sure how the save data works on that - whereas if the full version was on your device you could restore from a back up and not worry about losing information or data.

It's a hard thing to figure out. And a fine line to balance.

Aren't purchases tied to an Apple account now instead of a device? Or does that only apply to app purchase and not IAP?

Also, if you look at the change log for version 1.0.4 in the Pixbit forums, they just added a load of new mobs to the list! I hope there's a way to herd them somehow since I'd love to have a menagerie of bunnies and bears in my house.
This is above and beyond what I expected for the next update, since I would have been ecstatic with tap and hold mining alone. Pixbits, your work is downright amazing. <3
