Faster? Considering that the crystals dropping rate is a sort of lottery, it is impossible to reach a logical conclusion. When you finish a chapter you get, more or less, the same amount of silver always. As to the crystals ... I just finished Chapter 3 on normal (to test a new setup, not for farming) and got 9 crystals. A couple of days ago I used Chapter 3/normal to test the Harbinger against the spiders and got 3 .... With this kind of variation it is impossible to compare

Bleh, that sorta sucks. I made a crystal purchase based on calculations derived from how much faster I should theoretically kill enemies, but that's sorta fail if killing enemies quicker won't necessarily correlate with more dropped crystals if the chances are that random =_=

Killing enemies faster will not increase the number of crystals dropped, but will shorten the time needed to complete a chapter. So you can repeat the chapter more times (and get more crystals).

For instance, with a certain setup and the Scorpion/Prometheus, aiming at enemies which drop crystals only (and eliminating the rest only from time to time when several dozens have gathered), you can complete Chapter 2 on normal in some 8 minutes. If you have an hour ... you can repeat it 8 times and get between 16 and 30 crystals It is a little bit boring but you are supposed to be farming, not enjoying a lot

Ahh, Scorpion/Prometheus...the problem is that I sorta lack any weaponry of that strength right now, let alone a flamer

What I'm currently doing is continuously farming "The Dig" on Chapter 2, Hell Mode, over and over. I've yet to actually complete Chapter 2 on Hell mode, and what I did was use boosts to force my way to the next checkpoint, before quitting and restarting the game to restore my health. Basically, my crossbow isn't strong enough to take out Hell-class Shamans in two hits, which makes it particularly irritating when I've got two of them to deal with alongside a few other nasties.

Sooo...without asking about what sorts of crystal numbers to expect (I recognise that can be a contentious/frustrating issue for some players), would you suggest I continue grinding on "The Dig" in Hell mode, or should I grind the whole of Chapter 2 on Hard? I should be coming into a proper weapon within one or two days of sustained gameplay, so I'm planning ahead for the crystals >.>

I would continue grinding on "The Dig" in Hell mode but would combine it with the whole Chapter 2 on Hard to make it less boring. And Chapter 3 on normal from time to time

Once again, thanks to everyone who vouched for the ability of the shotgun! Starting to see some results as I'm figuring out how to use it during co-op survival mode, and it's fast becoming a favourite of mine

So, I seem to remember reading that the shotgun is well suited to taking down spiders, particularly when they approach at close range. I was hoping to ask, what are you meant to do when you have multiple arachnids trying to charge at you? I was paired with a flamer in my latest run, and he was quite proficient with the weapon, but that wasn't quite enough to stop us copping quite a few hits from them, sooo...any helpful hints?

Right now, I'm actually finding survival mode easier with two players rather than one, because of the ability to cover each other's backs, as well as being able to distract opponents and/or concentrate fire on dark shamans. Is solo really supposed to be easier when you have the full attention of every mutant on the map? (I've yet to have the pleasure of playing with three strong players just yet, so I can't really comment on that one)

----------------

Edit: Just thought of an additional question for you guys: What sorts of boosts do you use in Co-op MP, and how do you farm them? I think I've started using less medipacks as of late, but my speed boost consumption has absolutely gone through the roof. Getting more than enough silver from the survival runs to restock on what I've used, but I'm wondering if there are other ways to stock up. (One idea which comes to mind is to grind silver, and devote it all to buying boosts, but if that's the case, are there any grinding areas which also give out good boost drops?)

Edit 2: just got a rough estimate of how many speed boosts I'm using per 21-Wave match: 50. Is that normal? >.>

I give up. I can't play anything without losing connection before wave 6. Also, why are rifles worse than crossbows?
This game seems unpolished considering shooting at a ranged mutant (or any type) does not change their target to you. The AI is worse than most games...

Buy yourself a better Internet connection. You shouldn't whine if you're probably connected to a 3G network.

And every weapon has it's advantages and disadvantages, you should just make good use of what you've got. You can't expect to have the best weapon and playing skills on the first day. The game isn't meant for 5-year-olds but rather players who have enough wits to understand the game and move up in skills over time.
