A creative combination of the two . There is a story and a linear path through the game, but you also play to unlock gear. We had access only to chapter 1 in the beta, so I can't tell you where it goes, ultimately. But there is a good sense of progression and exploration plays a role in the game.

Think Diablo with guns. Tons of guns.

The game has two currency, silver and crystals. Silver is plentiful in the game and it allows you to replenish your buffs (speed, health, area blast, etc) as well as some gear. Crystals are rarer, and they unlock new weapons and other high-level gear. Basically, you can spend real money to buy crystals and speed up your advancement. The come in several value packs, starting at .99.

It's hard to tell how well the system is balanced. But if it's anything like Frisbee Forever (also made by Kiloo) you'll get plenty of gameplay for little or no money.

Yep - standard DS controls, plus a well-integrated
buffs menu.

Oh, mine, that does sound absolutely thrilling! Fairy me over with one last tidbit of information: is it a dual-stick shooter/sporting some otherwise reflex- and precision-based control scheme, or mired down in the vast marsh of auto-targeting (a very damp and dark place full of spiders and the trapped dead souls of the Black Isle Studio employees)?

(I'm proud of how anally selective and anally anal we iOS gamers have become, arguing details and pondering whether or not to download a game that costs us nothing but a few minutes of Wi-Fi airtime... )

EDIT:

Wow, yer pre-emptive, in the directly supernatural and possibly witch hunt-inciting sense of the word.

Offtopic:

HD Gameplay Trailer of the first 18.Minutes on the Roll. Expect it anytime to impact on the first Page of this Thread.

Ontopic:

Great Gameplay, outstanding Price with some fair IAP that you could but don`t have to use. Definitly as usually a 5/5 iTunes Stars Game from Kiloo.
