Long time fan of the series, and for free, I'm willing to give it a go. Looks somewhat intriguing, not to mention the very small file size.

This is truly lame. What a great game Oregon trail was when first released on the iOS. At the end of the game I wished for a sequel that let you do more and live the settled life but never like this. Freemium games really are like vampires sucking the life outta gamers.

sigh, it's a shame that such a classic game has been changed into a Smurf's Village game.

When I open it up it just hangs at the "checking for updates" screen, then times out and asks me to try again. Anyone else having this issue?

the game plays in offline & online mode - it will checking updates & downloading it (need wifi), if there is no wifi just skip the notice..on the part of downloading there is no problem at the moment - currently test playing on iphone 4s.

i was playing the game for a bit, but then it went checking for updates and crashed. now it crashes every time on startup when checking for updates and if i try and reinstall the game, it still just crashes on startup.

Edit: now it works. must have been launch day problems with dlc.
