"Box Cat comes highly recommended, as a quick arcade fix with lasting power." Touch Gen

"It has a Rush Hour mode, which is super fun. It puts you on a double size street and there's cars coming down every lane. Basically you wreak havoc running into all these cars and you can build up super huge combos." Touch Arcade

"Box Cat feels like a catharsis or apology for all those animals that were shamelessly harmed in games such as Frogger. Instead of creatures being run over by cars, cars are being run over by Box Cat." IndieGames.com

"The system works because as you play you get better, and the difficulty of the objectives increases to match your new-found car-destroying skills." Pocket Gamer

"Imagine an 8-bit Burnout's Crash Junctions except you're driving a cat" Shaun Inman, Creator of The Last Rocket

Nice, I'll buy it later today. And it's good to see more iCade support.

4/5 review from TouchGen

It should be a standard feature that you can turn on/off in-game music and sound effects separately in all games

I'm a fan of game controllers, so I added support for a few in Box Cat. Here's a video showing gameplay with Joypad, iControlPad and iCade.

Download the Soundtrack

Download the Box Cat Original Soundtrack.

Rather get the NSFE? Sure, here you go.

The music was composed in Garageband with YMCK's Magical 8-bit Plug. Then it was transposed into MML to create an NSF. Blarggs's Game_Music_Emu is used to play the NSF in game.

Game Impressions

Decided to give the game a try, and I'm glad I did!

This game is mindless fun, and I just love how these types of games are now all adding little missions to spice up the most repetitive parts. (I don't mind repetitive myself, but it's nice when there's that little something added to it) So it's very nice that Box Cat also features those little missions.

The visuals are top notch. Yes they are simple, but this is what I'm looking for anyway. I'm a sucker for pixel games, and this one delivers great. The game, the menus, the control tutorial, everything just feels right.

As for the music, it's very good too. True NES feeling. It's nice how the music changes in the other modes too. +1 for variety in such a small game.

I also like the attention to detail. Right when you start playing, the text that appears following the music cues, wow haha. Also, car with headlights later on, different settings, etc.

Lastly, the controls are perfect except maybe for the dash control. In the heat of action, I sometimes think I'll dash when releasing the button, not when pressing again. But that's just minor gripes. Other than that, the controls just work.

So anyway, this game was well thought out and well executed. This is a nice little addtion to my collection. Congrats to the devs!
