iUridium [$.99]

See http://itunes.apple.com/app/iuridium/id439322739?mt=8

YouTube demo video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18xd82Y581s

It seems to be pretty choppy - Cocos2D isn't capable of better full-screen, quick scrolling?

Did anyone purchase it? The version of Uridium in the C64 Emulator seems to be better, scrolling speed- and choppyless-ness-wise.

Well Uridum is a classic but is this an illegal copy of it or has he got permission from Hewson to release this on iOS?

I'm not buying it. If you search for Uridium there's the proper official version from Elite which is 100% legit. Sure Wlite won't be happy seeing this illegal version

In the meantime, I've purchased it.

1, it's not choppy, not even on older hardware. (It was indeed the video camera that recorded such a bad footage.)

2, IP-wise: the music is indeed right from the original game. The devs should consider licensing remakes; e.g. the one at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqdkTW3Eob8 or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ooby_M9XwUY Also, the sound effects should be recorded by them. Then, it may survive as the artwork (sprites, background etc.) seems to be completely redrawn and not from the original game.

Note that Elite's version is based on the ZX Spectrum version (read: it's very bad - certainly much worse than iUridium). If you want to play the original, get Commodore 64 and, as an IAP, Uridium. Now, with iCade / iCP support, it's just great. (I've even shot a demo video of it, controlled by an iCP: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kbb2J...ature=youtu.be )

Another alternative, if you want hardware game controller (iCade / iCP) support, is going for the full version of Spectaculator and uploading the original ZX Spectrum version under it. It works great in the emulator.
