After playing Horn, I feel like IB could definitely make free-roaming work. They'd have to add a few exploration mechanics and puzzles to make it worth while, but the could still have enemies spawned around the map, and when you walk close enough you could just enter the same combat mode that they've been using.

In case anyone's interested, there's a poll for the game of the year going on at touch arcade. Only previous game of the weeks are eligible. IB 2 is one of those games.

A bit of a novice question:

Is it worth upgrading when leveling up anything but the health and maybe magic?
It seems to me as the other abilities (strength, shield) are taken care of with the items you receive and buy. Can anyone give a hint on this?

GiHubb I leveled up actually only increasing strength/shield haha... I didn't put anything into magic and never used magic except for healing. I put almost all of my points into attack and health. A little into shield.

Default additional expansions?

So I beat the game... will there be any additional expansions? The game rocks just wish it would go on a bit longer.

I also only use magic primary for healing. But didn't you increase your health? Most equipment doesn't increase it by that much whereas swords and such have a +30 fairly early on so leveling strength up seems tiny by comparison.

About the stats, if you're playing NG, put 200 points in magic, and then a lot in attack and in health (more in attack than in health). Even if you don't use magic a lot, when you put more points in magic, the magic recharges faster, and the cap for this effect is at 200 points.

In OG do the same, but more points in health than in attack since you'll get your attack points from upgraded gems.

Nice, but what's NG and OG? :-)

They are two different modes:
- OG (Original Game) is the original mode. In this mode you can't infinitely level up your character because each item can be mastered only once. Everytime you beat the game again in this mode you'll start it again, but you won't lose anything. That's why you need to use better and better gems in this game because there's no other way to upgrade your character.
- NG (New Game+) is unlocked after beating the game. In this mode you can infinitely level up your character, because each time you beat the game (and you start other NG) in this mode, every equipment will "level up" as well (mastered^x), but you lose everything, so the gems are a bit more useless than in OG.

You can access these modes in the Profiles menu.
