This is a port of an Xbox Live game which I can find no viable reviews of.

Played through a bit and it's a fairly gutsy action RPG game. Here are some early impressions, I'll try to post more later.

+ The controls are solid although the character seems to float (which is obvious in the video and I like). Combat is feels similar physically but is reasonable.
+ The town has a lot of interactive characters and flavor, something lacking in my iOS RPGs.
+ At first glance the graphics might not be for everyone but they work very well in this game. Despite appearances there is a lot of detail here. Each town NPC has a individual large face in discussion and there is a good sense of interaction and whimsical humor.
+ Good narrative pacing that remains cryptic and doesn't insult the player by hand holding or being overly simple.
+ There is a strong plot. According to the developer there are 3 different endings. Although there are multiple references to the developer's other game, Bonkey Trek (free), Four Winds Fantasy DX doesn't have the same unfavorable gallows humor.
- On my iPod Touch 3G 32GB there was one part when it seemed to freeze up and I had to restart when a alien/robot was following me and seemed to get stuck.
- There is no save system at all but multitasking is solid. According to the developer completion may take hours. Lack of save might not appeal to everyone but for those of us who grew up in the Nintendo era it's not so bad (I remember never turning off my NES for fear of progress loss).
- Awkwardly long load times when entering/exiting buildings, about 10 seconds (this may be a 3G performance issue)
- No tutorial; there is an odd two digit number in the upper right hand corner that may or may not be important.
- Lack of interactive inventory/skill system mechanics make it more casual but feel like a missed opportunity.

Just bought the game based on the graphics alone. And what appeared to be a Moonside reference (from EarthBound) in one of the screenshots--specifically, the "STATUE STATUE STATUE" part. Reminded me of bones. Bone's bones. Bone bone bone.
