The Vitw can offer a new way to play and experience console quality games. Like combining the best of Apple or Nitendo with the best of Sony or Microsoft. Dual sticks, front and rear touch controls, tilt functionality, console-quality graphics; all in one package. It's only as good as the games. The hardware is only as good as the software. But there is potential for some serious outside the box hybrid gaming here. It's the appeal of combining all of the strengths of all of these systems into one massive package. Integrated online support, digital media, cross platform play/functionality, remote gaming, AAA titles, multitasking. You cannot do all of these things with an Xbox, my friends. This is a potential that may or may not be reached.
I feel in some ways that hardcore gaming dies if this dies. We could all be plunged into a world of Freemium gaming. Last edited by dumaz1000; 01-29-2012 at 07:44 PM.. |

Gravity Rush probably isn't a launch title though. The Sony website still lists it as Spring 2012. My pre-order on Amazon:
$300 Vita 3G Bundle $40 Starter Kit $40 BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend $40 Disgaea 3 (April 17 :/) $40 Gravity Rush (Amazon has it as late May release...) Total: $460 - $150 (Amazon credit) = $310 |

Where I stay, the WiFi only Vita will be launched at an official price of $400 while the WiFi+3G will set me back $500.
MvC3 will be sold here for $56 Uncharted will be sold for $56 Total damage done will be about $515 since I don't need 3G. Sigh... too bad I don't have that much at the moment. Anyways, i'll choose to remain happy with the 4S + iPad 2 combo I have going. Unless I sell my iPad 2 and.... no.. NO!! Must... resist..... |

Haven't preordered one myself but I do intend to buy one within the first few weeks hopefully. The only games I'm definitely 100% buying on launch are Wipeout and Hot Shots Golf but I do have my eyes on quite a few titles.
I know wipeout is a safe bet because I love those games and if it's as good as Wipeout Pulse on PSP I'll play it to death the same goes with HotShots Golf the PSP title was one of the few I always went back to. To the guy who kept saying he constantly hit the wall in Wipeout that's pretty normal for a first time player it does take quite a while at first to master the craft and corners but when you do the game is awesome. Also looking forward to Disgaea 3 I'd class all the Disgaea games above Final Fantasy Tactics by a mile and they all have quite amusing plotlines and probably hundreds of hours of gameplay due to the crazy levelling. |

I agree about launch titles being one-trick ponies. Remember how excited people were for Red Steel on the Wii? Now it's considered complete garbage. There are very few launch games you can look back on a few years into a console's life and really say they pushed the mold. In my experience you've gotta wait for the launch rush to finish before developers will sit down, relax and start working on something truly impressive, which usually ties in with the next console upgrade, so you've got a few fixes to the hardware and a decent-sized library when you jump in.
Personally I'm waiting until I've built a list of at least ten games, no less, before I consider the console worthy. Then I can be more certain they'll contnue to progress at this level of quality and Sony didn't just rush one or two pretty-looking games out to lure me in and then leave me hanging. They've gotta be somewhat unique too, Rayman doesn't count because I already own it, Uncharted is kind of on the line considering it's not quite on the same level as its PS3 counterparts. Monster Hunter would probably do the trick, maybe a nice Resident Evil or a new Castlevania game. That kinda stuff. Last edited by MidianGTX; 01-30-2012 at 09:17 AM.. |

How's everyone finding the Vita so far?
Also, if you have a 3G version, do you have to pay monthly for data, or is it all free like on an Amazon Kindle? |
