Haven't had as much time to play this as I'd like (also because I've gotten too many games this week), but wanted to report my first crash. It was on the Deep Beneath the Surface level when you kill that tower of baddies.

After I shoot or jump on the last one, it crashes. Not sure why it does it at that specific place, but it's happened three times in a row now.

Oh, and I wasn't involved in the beta, so obviously this is the AppStore build.

(This is why some investigative journalism in gaming news media would have quite the impact, as opposed to the current state of news reporting on games, which is largely or completely based on recounting information and reviews. If iOS developers started seeing a backlash from dubious business practices from various game blogs and news sites, such as TA, they would be more vary of such moves, and consider their options more carefully before acting.

If gaming, and these small injustices, is important enough to actually waste journalistic effort on is another question entirely )
But it has happened before. Several times. We buy a game - it goes free with unlock - if you bought it and delete it (after updating) then the game does not recognize you as a paying customer and you have to pay again.

Or another thing that has happened - the game in the current state goes free (after people have paid for it) and then the update includes more level or content that needs to be paid for - so those that bought the game before the update must pay again to get the extra content whereas a new customer only pays once.

Just when I'm about to buy the app, this remark prevents me. I'll wait when it's free. But then I against the system, I prefer full app than IAP full unlock. So, dilemma!

Bleh. Ah, well, as long as there's no backlash from doing, so, my guess is that developers will continue, and do it all the more often

yup, pretty sure it'll make a lot of people who haven't gotten it yet think twice before hitting the buy button...

especially if that update is coming with the Yoshi's Island attacking controls... or something else that major included with it...

Let's pause this discussion until we hear back from the developer. Frankly, from his post I can't tell whether he meant that they would release a lite version, or even a second version that's free+IAP (the reverse of what GL did with Sacred Odyssey).

But there is backlash...at least on these forums. The general public is probably just as ticked off when things like this happen, but might not vent it other than possibly lowering a review score (which I imagine the vast majority of iOS gamers don't even leave reviews at all).

About the Free Version we decided to make it as a second app.
People who want to test the first levels of the game and like freemium systems can choose this, the other ones can stay with the normal version.

Good to hear! Did you happen to see my post about crashing on the Deep Beneath the Surface level? Was wondering if others were experiencing this.
