Do people never read the threads in upcoming games ?

For weeks we know its like an 'arena' based game, we know its freemium. For weeks we've been moaning (specially me !) that its not a true RPG like DH 1 and 2 which is a huge huge shame.

I still cant help but see the trailer and think 'what if' this was an epic RPG like Dungeon Hunter III should be. Shame. I'll give this one a go as i need to 'pretend' its like an updated 'Gauntlet' type arena game but i still so wish it was the proper RPG. They should have at least renamed it as this will fool a lot of people who expect something else (Specially if they havent read the upcoming thread).

Just spent 30 mins playing it.

For those that want to know, its actually good! It is very much like Solomon's Boneyard but in the Dungeon Hunter style.

Yes, there is lots of IAP but it doesn't feel like it is necessary unless you want to speed up the item and skill purchases.

The gameplay is based on rounds in different arenas. There are challenges within each that get you bonuses. Each round gets slightly harder until you eventually fight the boss. That gives you a chest which unlocks skills or items.

You then have to purchase these items with the gold you earned. This is why its important to complete the challenges for that mission because that increases the amount of gold you get.

Graphics are really quite nice and sounds is reasonable. I found the controls acceptable however weapon switching is in a really bad position on the iPad.

There is a lot of content here. 4 worlds with 4 arenas in each that you have to play 4 times each with different mobs.

I am definitely enjoying it, sure its not the typical Diablo style Dungeon Hunter we have been playing before but there's absolutely nothing wrong with this style either. More casual and feels there is enough depth to keep me entertained for a while.

With the price being free, there is no excuse not to give it a try.

Another dense GL game designed solely for the purpose of taking advantage of weak individuals. Now they get to take advantage of the weak individuals and their new itunes card they got for Christmas. I can't respect a company that makes "games" likes these. These greedy devs make me sick and scared for the future of humanity. I wish there were enough people that could support real developers with morals and direction and put these guys out of business. Last time I gave this greedy company money they failed to secure my private information allowing simple exploits to reveal personal information.

Hate on.

Another 30 mins of playing. Ok, this is getting much better!

There are no GC achievements, however they have their own system for them - and there are a LOT of achievements. There is also this weird system called collections which seem to have a group of tasks. Some of them might be to pick up a specific item but there are other ones like give a gift to a friend. Once you complete the tasks you get a reward.

The gameplay is getting more difficult so you need to be a bit more careful. I am level 11 and I actually need to dodge attacks. Need to also make sure you are fully stocked with health potions (limited of 3).

One thing I neglected to mention before. You must be connected to Gameloft to purchase items. It actually communicates with their servers to make sure you can purchase the item. This should cut down on cheating but also forces you to be online.

Looking at the achievements there are at least 100 levels for characters. Enough work for even the most hardcore player.

Fair amount of social integration too. There are daily challenges and leaderboards.

As I stated before, I am very much liking this game. There is a lot to do and it feels like it is worth playing.

Thats a bit harsh and also utterly ridiculous.

I loved the old Dungeon Hunter games, would have much preferred this to be a RPG but i'm happy to give it a go. Does every game have to be 'brain taxing' or can i have some basic hack n slash as i'm a 'weak individual' ? Pathetic. You cant say what games people can play and if they do theyre a 'weak individual'

When done right (Bullet Time) IAP's can be 'okay', Six Guns it was OTT (you would do a mission, spend tons of money on bullets, get a small reward after the mission just to get more bullets and not much else)

Scared for the future of humanity ? Give me a break.

Thanks for your post, nice to read from someone who has tried it instead of over the top tabloid type sensationalism. I'll give this a go later when its out

The limiting factor that drives the IAP are keys. You only get a certain amount each day and that prevents you opening the chest at the end of the mission. The chest contain gold and unlock items and skills. This means without paying you are slowing down your rate of gold acquisition and limiting how many items and skills you will have access to.

Whether the amount you get each day is reasonable is something that will take some time to work out. Currently I am finding the limiting factor being gold but using the quests I can get a decent amount. Uncertain if the chests contain gold or if its given at the same time as unlocks.

To be fair, Sony, Valve, Square Enix and a bunch of other game publishers also failed to protect your private information .

As to the game, it plays like Pocket RPG with better graphics and worse controls (though not terrible). What makes you sad is that GL finally got the combat right: it's thrilling, challenging, skill based, and not at all based on potion spamming. But without the storyline and the exploration component, the whole thing becomes a soulless cash-sucking machine like Gun Bros. Gold accumulates at tediously slow rates (even if you hit all the achievements) and everything (and I mean everything costs gold or gems. There's nothing more frustrating than leveling up, gaining a new skill, and having to spend a crapload of gold to activate it.

All I can say is: what a waste. DH2 with these graphics and combat system would have been phenomenal.
