App description: iPhone 5 & iOS 6 Compatible! (5 Stars review AppMyKid.com) Finally, a beautifully crafted game built with young kids in mind.

Collaborate with your child on this game, promoting pro-social behavior.

Parents for young kids - your wait for a quality, fun and pro-social game is finally over. With gameplay tested with young children, this game diversifies from the common edutainment genre by allowing your children to play in their own pace, using their own carefully developed intuition.

Pro-social aspects:
- Play together, parent and child (one controls the truck, another sprays water everywhere)
- Collaborate with friends, forming an all-mighty firemen team.
- Play as single-player (to give parents just enough time for a cup of coffee)

Game story:
Not everything is candies and watermelons in Can Town. A massive fire had burst, and Cat & Dog team up as the trusted volunteers of the Can Town Fire Brigade to rescue the animal inhabitants.

Game features:
- Easy to learn, frustration-free gameplay
- Cute and artistic graphic style
- 12 different animals to save
- Fun surprise at the end (different every time)
- Go-to-sleep friendly
- Beautiful piano music by the classical composer M. Giuliani
- Endless gameplay

'Burning Things' press release

Burning Things: Pro-social Behavior Facilitated by Portrait Mode Comfort

Tel Aviv, IL Dec 19, 2011 in Games

[prMac.com] Tel Aviv, Israel - While watching videos or reading interactive books can be just fine in landscape mode, our recent tests show that young children, with their tiny palms, struggle to play games while holding their devices horizontally. The initiation for the study happened as Gur Ilany, founder of Samuramu, watched his 3 year old daughter toss birds in impossible angles in Angry Birds. Apparently, this wasn't a coincidence - as Samuramu initiated further testing among toddlers and pre-teens to support the thesis and found interestingly similar results.

The game created based on the tests, 'Burning Things' was designed with young children in mind from the grounds up. In a world of noisy, persuasive and visually polluted apps, Samuramu carefully crafted a quiet, clean and artistic game experience. The game is set in Can Town, where the young player assumes the roles of Cat and Dog as they ride the red firefighter truck, rescuing animal inhabitants from a massive fire.

"We wanted to create a positive experience, and following a concept workshop with PhD Guy Doron, a child psychologist and senior lecturer in Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center, we realized that while there are many games for kids, very few of them promote pro-social behavior, as simple as helping others." explains Ilany.

Forming the concepts of usability for younger ages and pro-social gaming, the production task became much clearer for the team. Burning Things' game world is expressive, colorful and rich, but at the same time pleasant and simple. Children can play at their own pace, be it rushing their red truck across houses, trees, snowy hills and even cafes, or stopping to take the time, as they like.

Burning Things will be available on the App Store for Christmas 2011.

I love the art style and originality; this is an impressive little indie release. I'll be quite curious to read feedback from anyone who's gotten it and given it a try.

Pebblesmith, thanks for buying our game, and thanks again for taking the time to post impressions.

I really believe in involving our small community in the process on creating the game. Now as the game is released, we can take our time to update and improve upon the core game.

We will consider changing the lock/unlock scheme so that it's clearer what's going on.

Adding new levels is definitely going to happen, and for January we are preparing a nice update with a new area. The theme for the new area is not finalized yet, any ideas or requests welcome!
