Here's a picture of our map generator making 5 random maps in a row, using our currently being tweaked "carved halls" setting. Bright red squares are rooms, dull red squares are "clusters" of rooms. Blue lines are thin hallways, golden lines are hallways between clusters. Green squares are the starter rooms.

Our "cluster" system will let us do very interesting things. We can have clusters randomly have a special tile theme and/or contain a special enemy theme. There will also be a system to replace a cluster with drawn-from-a-pool hand-made content, similar to what we did in SQH and Hook Worlds. This will allow things like special decorations, odd architecture, puzzles/traps/secrets, book/talker placement, and anything else that benefits from being human-made.

Goals for map generation:

- Smaller levels than Mage Gauntlet. Shooting for a whole game to take between 20 minutes and less than 2 hours, depending on "dungeon difficulty mode". This is a requirement because all modes will have permadeath. If you run out of lives, you start over at the beginning of a new, randomly generated dungeon.

- Dead ends will contain either the exit of the level, or something valuable. Valuable rooms can contain treasure chests full of gold, gem chests, extra life chests, pets (which are no longer equipment, you find and switch them in the dungeon itself), health/item caches, rare handmade rooms, or rare enemies.

- Surprise the player each time they play. Make an interesting and varied map generation system that puts other games to shame.

Oh, you know. Slowly. We're taking the time to finally do some stuff we should have done for Mage Gauntlet, like a better sprite importer. Almost done with that, it was a big undertaking.

After the sprite importer, we're tweaking the monster generator. That's when the real meat of the game design starts. The map generator is already in and working, with placeholder monsters in it. Just need to do actual monster/loot/etc generation and we have beginnings of the game in its true form.

In the meantime, we've been working on two other games. Haven't posted a lot about those, but one of them is an endless runner + Double Dragon sort of game, and the other is based off Dwarf Fortress.

Always wondered why nobody ever tried to make beat-em-ups x runner games. Maybe I just missed those. Anyways, looking forward to your other titles. They sound pretty cool.

RocketCat games get me the most excited always. This looks like an amazing idea for a MG spin off. Using the League of Legends IAP model should work great and will cater well to all the cheap App Store shoppers. Thanks for all the great work Kepa.

I LOVE the League of Legends style IAP. Looking like a great title so far, can't wait!

Very curious about what you have planned for the Dwarf Fortress-type game.
