RPG meets RTS in the most gripping multi-player game yet! Crystal War:

Blood Field picks up where Crystal War left off introducing a much requested

multi-player feature. Choose your character class (human or goblin) and face

off against other players in network mode to determine victory.

Dozens of character types, skills to manage, and battlefields to dominate

protecting the miners, however, presents another challenge.

RPG

Crystal War: Blood Field isnt just about bigger and badder enemies. As the

game progresses, your resources, inventory, and characters themselves

evolve. Each victory is a step toward equipping your character with new and

better skills designed to decimate your opponents.

As a fan of Crystal War, I got excited when I saw that this had been released. I happened to stumble upon it in an article on a different site. I searched the App Store, but wasn't able to find the app via the normal search methods, and couldn't even find it listed by developer. In Appshopper, I could only find the new limited version (with a link to the paid version). I suppose I should have taken that as a hint that something was wrong, but I ignored all of those signs and found a link on the Digitalfrog website to the paid version of the app and promptly downloaded the $1.99 version.

When I try to start the app, it seems to start OK, but it takes me to a sign-in page. The problem is that the box is there to enter my name, but there's no keyboard; however, if I tap in the blank area to the right of the box, it appears that the keys are there, in some sort of ABC phone keypad orientation. At this point, I haven't been able to get past this screen. I don't have my keyboard case with me right now, so I haven't been able to try using a Bluetooth keyboard to enter the characters. I'll try that when I get home from work tonight.

I even tried to download the limited version to see how far I could get in that version. No luck there either. Same problem.

So...heed the warning. The app is currently in the App Store, but I believe it's broken. If somebody else is willing to check it out, feel free to report back here. Otherwise, I'll be looking forward to an update. I know that one of the Digitalfrog developers is a member here. Maybe he can give us an update?

Weird...I searched the forums for any info about this game before I made my post, but couldn't find anything; however, a quick Google search led me to this post here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=117946

Any beta testers care to comment about the game? It looks awesome. I can't wait to check it out, if I can figure out how to get past the sign-in page.

Original Crystal War game is one of the best single lane side-scrolling defense games. Not without flaws, but for me the key things are that (1) it was grindy; (2) in the end I got tired of it. This game appears to recycle the same unit graphics, and at a guess is also grindy. So I have some mixed feelings about taking the plunge, bug aside.

I would particularly like to hear how it compares with the original.

I think the biggest addition to the game is real-time online multiplayer. It's not clear from tha app description, but there's more information in the link to the website.

This game is very good. I love playing this game. This is a defense/offense type of game. You will need to defend your Commanding Officer from the waves of armies the other Commanding Officer are sending and also attack the enemy's Commanding Officer using your own armies. You can gain spirits by buying a digger and buy armies using the spirits collected. You can also upgrade each type of your army using the Golds earned in the battle. I am almost done with the Human's Campaign.

Temporary Fix to play the game: You must turn off your Wifi or put your iDevice to Airplane mode. This will bypass the login bug. When you are in the Main Menu of the game, you can turn your Wifi back on.

I cant believe I paid money for this. It is original crystal wars + IAP + multiplayer that doesnt work.

I'm sure they will make it free at some point, since its set up for IAP and is a very grindy game.

The broken keyboard was a problem in the beta. Single player should work fine but it seems multiplayer/online is stunted for now. Here's a link to the beta thread, fwiw. It looks like this version is the same that was used in beta (beta was through App Store, App Store shows installed on my device, no updates).

Wow... I was one of the beta testers and we ALLLLLL experienced this issue and made it well aware to the devs. I'm beyond shocked that they ignored us and released it to the public as it was...

Edit: The workaround we used to actually play was to turn off wifi/play in airplane mode. Sucks but it worked. Hopefully a fix will be submitted...
