We figured out several crash bugs and got those fixed. We got a new version that works on ipods - that required making the 3d system lighter and faster. The problem on ipods was that they took longer to get initialized - and ios thought the app had died, and was terminating the app.

We're still fixing/adding some features to the new build, and after we get that done - it'll be submitted to Apple, and then it'll take them 5 days or a week before they approve it and put it onto their store and then people can update. We were hoping to submit it yesterday, but there were some lingering problems with the shipyard screens on ipods.

We have a team working on the ai ships, since the ai system has been suffering breakdowns due to the initial design.

Oh and to answer your original question - this is pretty much the only forum I'm using to discuss developments in the game. We have an official site at traveller-ar.com, but thats being managed by other people, and I don't like the forum system there. "Wordpress" - ick.

Can you explain what the AR view is intended to be used for?

We got that straightened out. That was a "major" problem, but we're also working through a whole series of additional problems - problems that weren't evident back when we were developing and testing with a handful of testers. We're trying to smooth things out, and there will be a series of updates coming down the pipe. One update is in the apple pipeline, should be out around saturday.

This game is in "beta" stage, so people reporting bugs, even if its just "Its crashing like hell!" is good, although more specific info like "it crashes when I select my ship, called "The Terminator" - would be better, so we can test specific ships.

And once we get the bugs ironed out, then we got a whole series of new features we'll be adding to the game. This isn't a "lets put this out and make some money, then drop it and move on to the next game" type deal - we're committed to growing and evolving this game.

And once the game gets stable and works well - the price will be going up. But those who bought it at the current 99 cents, will continue to get updated at no extra cost. Not a bad deal for 99 cents, I would say.

so you tricked your customers into beta testing the game for you?

The forum system is indeed a real pain... Especially that all posts are displayed newest to oldest. So if you want to read a thread you have to switch to the last page and start reading from the bottom to the top until you reach the first page... Very annoying.
I started a thread about this and wether it could be possible to let you individually choose how you want the forum to be displayed, but I got no answer
So, I am happy to have you here with us @TA

BTW: How does this work with the 2 Million Credits which the beta participants get? I do not find the info anymore.

It is stated on the homepage that it is a Beta. They wanted to add it in the app description, but Apple didn't let them.
And in my opinion everyone has the possibility to inform himself about a product on the producer's HP before buying it.
And you pay only a fraction of the later price. See it as an investment, which saves you money:

Beta Price: $0.99
Normal : $4.99

So you make $4 ! This is more than a 400% plus on your intial investement. Or more than 80% saved.

They have very clearly stated that the game is a beta. Nobody was tricked.

Yeah the game admittedly needs work at the moment but it has the potential to be excellent I think. Cannot wait to get on with playing to be honest, so can you kindly hurry the hell up devs!

As for tricking people - I'm just a programmer. I don't make marketing or financial decisions. I don't agree with all decisions made up and down the chain of responsibility - but those decisions aren't mine to make. And I'm sure some of the upper management doesn't agree with some of the things *I* think are best. :P

But the game is coming along, not at a lightning pace - but good steady progress is happening.

I think the zillion free credits for beta players program has ended last week. The boss was talking about cutting it off - since it seemed the codes for the free credits were being passed around among friends.

Yea ... We're on to you...
