Nice. I was so young when I first played "Bard's Tale II" I remember reading the full title as The Dusting Knight instead of The Destiny Knight and being thoroughly confused. "What is this, a cleaning game?"

If all goes well, I'll get my money's worth just by rolling characters - games like this are the kind I'll spend an hour creating the 'perfect party,' play for 15 minutes and either completely wipe out or realize I screwed up in some drastic way, start all over with the rolling process, and love every minute of it.

This! This! This!

Hi, you seemed to be lost on the Internets.
This is TouchArcade, where 2$ for a game is too much, 5$ is an outrage, and 10$ or more is putting sugar in their car tanks whilst killing puppies.

Anyone care to comment on this one? Is it worth the purchase?

I love this game but I wouldn't recommend it unless you are a fan of games like the original Bard's Tale, etc, basically pen and paper RPGs turned into video games.

I picked up this game today, and it's certainly truer to its roots than a lot of other RPGs on the app store. If it has a weakness that I've noticed so far, not having played much, it's that the character pictures don't seem to account for race, but only gender and class, at least if you're expecting Tolkien archetypes. Not a big deal at all. The gameplay is pretty old school Dungeons and Dragons, with reverse armor class and thac0 and all. Good stuff. Love having a party of seven- hell - love having a party.

I'm just a sixteen bit sprite in an eight bit game.

I'm not a fan a Bard's Tales game (in fact, I never played one before, and after trying old version of Bard's Tales game, i didn't like them), but I really enjoy this game a lot ! If you really want to make your mind on this one, don't forget there is a lite version. The length of this lite version is more than 6 hours, which is not bad for a lite version ! The full games length is more than 30h.

What I like about the dev and which I found is pretty rare nowadays (I hope I'm wrong on this one ) is that the dev is very keen to improve his game and to listen to suggestion from users. In a few months, this game has seen a lot of new versions, with improvements based on users feedbacks. If you want to know what I mean, you can visit the silversword forums (http://silversword-rpg.com).

improvements? well the only really needed improvement would be redesign of ui and making the play area not that tiny but it is not going to happen probably.

If by a redesign of ui, your expecting the game to completely change orientation and become a Wizardry game, then your not looking for improvements but for a complete redesign of the game screen

I understand the current design as being faithful to older Bard's Tale game, but with a more modern design (graphics, touch screen, ...). The idea of the dev was to make a faithful and modern rendition of a Bard's Tale game, and I think he have succeeded in it.
Even if I was not interested by old Bard's Tale game. I've discovered, after trying the game, and a small time of adaptation that there is more in this game then just the UI. If the UI, is the only thing that bothers you, give the game a try and see if you enjoy it nevertheless. If not, that's not a problem. If, you enjoy it, but would like SMALL improvements to the game, you can ask the dev on the silversword forum.

Again, you have the right to not like the UI. But I think you should see past it. Fun game or not only about graphics and interface.

quite fair, but there are some problems with playability at least on iphone. the menus and text options are too small to work good. it would not be a problem with a mouse but it's touch screen. the size of play area on iphone is very small. would not be such problem with a monitor but on iphone it is really tiny. but if developer wants to keep everything close to the original than it's ok, even if there are iaps which are definitely not a classic gameplay option.
